Hi everyone!
We've been chatting about Ixalan here for a while, but on 21 Aug Wizards got into the act with four promo cards (and some upcoming tokens):

AllMost of the previously-leaked cards are here: Behind the Scenes with the Alleged Ixalan Card Theft
So let's talk Ixalan!

Shane Yeah, definitely prefer this art to the old one.

In the flavor text, it says "coatls fly." Please don't tell me Lorescale Coatl is getting a reprint...

It is more likely this coatl gets a reprint: Winged Coatl. Love the Favorable Winds reprint for limited though.

Opt seems like a nice addition to modern. I wonder if the instant-speed will cause people to use it over Sleight of Hand?

Bastard! You beat me to it :P
But this beast is scary as all hell

Excellent! I have been waiting for Wizards to confirm this card :)

I know it's inconceivable, but Wizards has printed a a strictly better Storm Crow in Storm Fleet Aerialist ...
WIZARDS, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!?

5 mana 7 power across 2 bodies... 3 of it hasted... curves nicely after either Ripjaw Raptor or Anointed Procession... Broodmate Dragon saw a lot of play and I think I like this better.
Granted only great in a pretty dedicated Dino deck, and lacks evasion but there really isn't much evasive about Giant Dinosaurs.

Twilight Skywalker
Creature - Vampire Cleric
Flying
,: Target attacking vampire gets +1/+1 until end of turn.
The hour of twilight is approaching.

We got the list of Creatures that are being errata'd to Dinosaur (source):

Spell Pierce reprint! Love the art and flavor text too:

I wonder if Frenetic Raptor will be changed so dinosaurs can't block.
September 6, 2017 1:23 p.m.
Shane,
I doubt it ... when Wizards made it a Lizard Beast they didn't change the card text, just the Creature type.

That list makes a lot sense... nothing terribly exciting.

Hmmm interesting, so as of right now we have 33 dinosaurs printed. Juuust enough for critical mass in an EDH tribal deck. I will say there are a few omissions that surprised me. I felt pretty confident that Gnathosaur, Grotag Thrasher, and Regal Behemoth would've gotten changed. There were a few others I was hoping for, but knew they were a stretch cough cough Siege Behemoth and Skyshroud War Beast.
That article brings up an interesting point, however. We now know there are dinosaurs on Dominaria, Ixalan, New Phyrexia, Ravnica, and Tarkir (kinda odd with Dragons and all though) meaning we have options to see more in the future.

Wait... Spell Pierce AND Duress in standard together? I haven't been keeping up with standard much at all, but that has to be enough to make a reasonable UB control deck... right?

Now we're talking....
Spell Pierce is a nice one, but would you replace negate?
September 6, 2017 2:41 p.m.
We've got Bone Picker. Any other delver-esque creatures for standard blue tempo?
The reprints are actually a welcome surprise.

https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/magic-story/jace-alone-2017-09-06Here's Story One, for ye unlucky souls who haven't read it... The hype for Story Two is REAL...
September 6, 2017 6:22 p.m.
TezzeretofCarmot21 says... #31
Oh crap! Sorry, bro. When do you suppose Story Two's coming? I'm hooked on Ixalan now.
September 6, 2017 6:35 p.m.
If it ends up being like the Hour of devastation story we can expect 1 every Wednesday.
September 6, 2017 6:42 p.m.
So I guess I missed this card when it was spoiled. I don't know if I like it or not. It might be good now that we have Spell Pierce and the new siren.

Maybe there is a cycle of undercosted creatures that benefit your opponent. Old-Growth Dryads and now this.
September 6, 2017 8:32 p.m.
I think the flavor text on the wanted scoundrels tells you everything you need to know about building around it.
September 6, 2017 11:15 p.m.
Opponents can use an Abrade or Lightning Strike and get their mana back
September 6, 2017 11:47 p.m.
AgentGreen says... #40
That pirate won't see constructed; Limited maybe, but the downside of losing a big dude and give your opponent a big boost in mana seems not worth it
September 7, 2017 8:56 a.m.
In case you were not aware, Wizards has a page showing a Map of Ixalan. It was blank the other day, but now has a little bit showing ... presumably Useless Island and Absolutely Terrible Island, from the recent Magic Story.
But for a short while, Wizards had the whole map posted ... oops!

Looks like removal is the only way to go against Dinos
September 7, 2017 11:06 a.m.
Magaan's Murder, Vona
Legendary Creature - Vampire Knight
Vigilance, lifelink
, pay 7 life: Destroy target nonland permanent. Activate this ability only during your turn.
September 7, 2017 11:55 a.m.
AgentGreen says... #47
Yikes! I don't like that vampire at all. To kill anything (including planeswalkers) at the cost of life (which I believe vampire decks will have plenty of lifelink to play with) does not fill me with happiness
September 7, 2017 12:01 p.m.
Seems like a pretty strong commander. Paying 7 life is a lot easier when you have 40 of it.
September 7, 2017 12:05 p.m.
So we also have a reference to a new God-like being. That's kind of cool.
Also, both of those are great EDH cards.
