how do you kill something Indestructible?

A couple questions about this (i want to make a knights deck using Knight Exemplar ). So "destroy" spells dont kill indestructible creatures. so Day of Judgment won't do it right? And neither does "lethal damage." I take that to mean any combat damage dealt by creatures--even if it puts my indestructible creature in the negative toughness. How exactly do you kill indestructible creatures? I understand that enchanting them down to negative or zero toughness will do the trick. Is that correct? are there other ways? thanks guys.

if you want it to be brutally put into a graveyard like you killed it.. try Gatekeeper of Malakir .. it targets the player and malakir didnt touched the creature,, the creature's controller did so Indestructible is bypassed together with protection.. using Day of judgement against knight exemplar deck would have an effect.. it would kill the not Indestructible knight exemplar and removes the other knight's Indestructiblity..

Disfigure kills an indestructible creature. Its not damage so it works because its toughness is lowered to zero.
Sacrifice Effects such as Gatekeeper of Malakir and Consume the Meek and All Is Dust still work.

My bad, I meant to say Consuming Vapors in fact I'm sure I said Vapors. Sorry it appeared as Consume the Meek .

Unless of course you have two Knight Exemplars out.
Also, a cheap way to prevent Day of Judgment affecting your sole Knight Exemplar is to throw a Hyena Umbra . Cheap, adds 1/1 and protects from one destroy effect. First Strike is redundant, though.
To the actual question however, it's not just enchanting it down to 0 toughness. Grasp of Darkness and other instants or sorceries will do it.

don't forget Eldrazi's ability "Annihilator" takes care of indestructible permanents.

anything that will make your opponent sacrifice the indestructible thingy will work. So will a board wiper like Wrath of God or Damnation, as well as anything that exiles (removes from the game) said thingy (IE journey to nowhere, ect.) Reducing it's toughness to zero will also work technically, but that's generally trickier, seeing as how most indestructible creatures are fairly big.
My favorite method? Reality Acid - Here's how: Target Indestructible Thingy (yes, that's a proper noun) with Reality Acid, then use Boomerang/Vedalken Mastermind/Reality Strobe/ anything else that can target a PERMANENT YOU CONTROL to bounce the Reality Acid back to your hand. Viola, Reality Acid has left play, therefore they have to sacrifice the Indestructible Thingy, and (as long as you weren't using Boomerang) you can repeat the trick, if needed, a little bit later on.
But, I don't play much standard, so...

necromatic, I have a deck on here that uses this function. It's a legacy deck, but maybe can give you some ideas. It's called knightly-intercession. it uses the Knight Exemplar -Mother of Runes combo to make everything indestructible and protect the Knight Exemplar . Happy indestructing!

Wrath of God useless? snort
try saying that to Legacy players who drop a WOG on you when you have pro-regenerate Infect creatures, Blight Mamba & Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon on the board.

wrath of god is useless against indestructible. that's what the thread is about. WoG is a very good card in general.

Reduce it's toughness to 0 or less. Grasp of Darkness
Exile it. Swords to Plowshares
Force it's control to sacrifice it. Ashling, the Extinguisher
Put it into it's controller's library. Hallowed Burial

I prefer to Volition Reins indestructible things. Although all the other methods besides WOG work too.

This comment is in reference to the question about knights exemplar> if you have 2 knights exemplar on the board, is there any way to counter or destroy it or are all knight creatures indestructible

Exile, Edict, Sacrifice, Toughness Reduction, Board State Move, Bounce, Counter, Forced Discard.
Am I missing anything?

You cannot kill an indestructible creature. Like you mentioned reducing its toughness to 0 through -1 counters would do it. You can also remove it from the game with Journey to Nowhere , Path to Exile or Oblivion Ring . You can also bounce it back to your opponent's hand with Peel from Reality or something similar.
