The Slender Wither, But I'm Fat.

Casual BG (Golgari) Casual Counters

...And so are the Creatures in this deck ! Scavenge them 'till they get Obese, and they shall never Decease !

Hey Everyone :), This is a deck I built after buying my first starter deck in years : Golgari Growth.

This deck's main mechanic is to "Scavenge" creatures from the graveyard onto Lotleth Troll or Daggerdrome Imp and Control/Manage all the Counters put in play. The Trample ability and Flying/Lifelink that they have will cause constant pressure.

In order to always have creatures to "Scavenge", I have access to two abilities, that of Lotleth Troll & Varolz, the Scar-Striped that allow me to discard creatures from my hand to my graveyard, or sacrifice them from the field. (Doing so also grants them additional counters and regeneration.)

the "Scavenge" counters that I've accumulated on the field are priceless since the Scavengers can't be used again, so I need to protect all of them at all costs. I put in 4 different Instants : Abrupt Decay, Golgari Charm, Putrefy & Bioshift, to protect my Scavengees or transfer the counters to a more resilient creature.

The deck goes wild as soon as Corpsejack Menace and/or Vorel of the Hull Clade are drawn and played. They grant this mechanic Double/Triple its power, making these cards central pieces.

Usually at this point, unless the opponent's deck is designed to deal with such rapid Fattening, the game is won.

Here is a Plan B :

Kalonian Hydra is the most powerful creature in this deck, and it doesn't rely on any other card to increase its own power, giving it this unique status in this deck. But it can still be amplified once again by the deck's two central cards : Corpsejack Menace & Vorel of the Hull Clade.

And why not a Plan C ? :

Last but not least, Vraska the Unseen , associated with one of the 2 Rogue's Passage that are in this deck, will act as a plan C if all else fails x) ~ This means victory in 3 or 4 turns.

Other :

I've added Deathrite Shaman & Deadbridge Goliath for early burst and late sustain regardless or the deck's mechanical Success or Failure. Since Deathrite Shaman is banned in Competitive, I would exchange them for 2x Wasteland Viper if I ever play there...

Conclusion :

Plan A : Scavenge onto Lotleth Troll / Daggerdrome Imp (Amplified with Corpsejack Menace & Vorel of the Hull Clade.)

Plan B : Kalonian Hydra's constant growth (Amplified with Corpsejack Menace & Vorel of the Hull Clade.)

Plan C : Vraska the Unseen played as a combo with Rogue's Passage.

I haven't played this game in about 10 Years, just got back to it last month, so please help out, I welcome all advice or criticism ! My main questions are : How is the CMC in respect to the Lands in my deck ? Are there too many ? too little ? Should I keep that many creatures or maybe give more importance to other spells ? THANK YOU ! :)

PS : I try to stay within the Return to Ravnica Block and Magic 2014 ~
