Playtesting several matches against Abzan Aggro —Jan. 23, 2017

Won most of the matches. Although it has a lot of very big creatures (Anna, Grim Flayer, Lumpy, Siege Rhino and so...), my removals work very efficiently. And flyers are something hard for abzan to deal with...they always were...

...I still cannot figure out if this deck needs Fatal Push...I mean, it's a hell of a removal, but Draconic Roar always hits opp and creature, Kolaghan's Command has value written all over it, To the Slaughter is the only way to deal with planeswalkers, and Declaration in Stone can deal very good with tokens/indestructible creatures...

Any ideas?

cheetodunkz: I'm not so sure about Kozilek's Return. while certainly effective, you're using just 50% of the card, as I'm not playing with eldrazis. Plus, metagame is not completely settled, so we don't know if early aggro decks can be dealt with a 2dmg to board (for cards like Soulfire Grand Master, Monastery Mentor, Grim Flayer and so), or if we will actually need to go beyond that a litle (for cards like Sylvan Advocate, Bygone Bishop, Deathmist Raptor and so). With Radiant Flames you can manage that!

Mr.grizzly I really like Unlicensed Disintegration, but my deck only has 2 artifacts. Hero's Downfall was always saved up for planeswalkers, unless there was something that had to be removed instantly. For eg, back in the days I let Polukranos strike me for 5, because my turn-3 Rabblemaster would heal me completely with Sorin for at least 6. Or I could drop a Rabblemaster in turn 3 and a Butcher in turn 4 and strike with haste + lifelink, healing what Polukranos did.

Foul-Tongue Invocation is also a card I've already tried, but does not fit here. First, I have several ways to heal myself up, as stated above. And second, you cannot choose what to target like Crackling Doom (I mean, you use it to take out the biggest threat).

That's why I'm using To the Slaughter to deal with planeswalkers. Not as effective as Downfall, but it's the best we have for the moment...

Neko069, The reason I suggested Kozilek's Return was because you were looking for something to replace Bile Blight as token killer. If you put in sideboard for just playing token decks it would do its job great even if you are using just half the card. The only other card I can think of off the top of my head that would work well for token removal would be Declaration in Stone but its not your colors :( thats the only reason I suggested Kozilek's Return

Wait, we are running white, you could def use Declaration in Stone in sideboard against token removal instead of the Kozilek's Return I suggested before. Way Better.
