Hey, as a relative newbie I was wondering, could you give me some pointers on my (only) decklist: Elder Dragon Derp? Its another Meren of Clan Nel Toth list. Your list looks pretty bonkers btw, +1! Thanks for the read, best of luck!

this looks pretty nice, I am also a newbie Meren player, my theme is more about endlessly forcing my opponent to sac creatures, while i do so myself and tutor whatever i need to win, rather than tutoring and pumping. would love advice on my build as well Meren endless sacrifice into tutor

I would say put one or two field wipes?? Black Sun's Zenith would really help against indestructible creatures

Did you ever feel the need to put in Merciless Executioner along with Fleshbag? I feel like they are both good, but I can't decide on one or both.

Phyrexian Tower is another Awesome ramp/sac outlet.

Volrath's Stronghold to potentially save something from gy hate or get back another critter.

Gaea's Cradle cuz you'll likely always have a critter out.

Since you are running Jarad have you considered Lord of Extinction?

Excellent list. +1. Your Meren deck makes me want to dust off my old Glissa, the Traitor stax reanimator deck. Just out of curiosity, have you considered Wake the Dead. I have found the card to be game breaking and it definitely fits your sacrafice theme along with excessive etb abuse especially with something like Mikaeus, the Unhallowed in play.

Have you considered Greater Good?

Seems extremely good here.

Nice deck btw. ;)

Ok, you have Whisperwood Elemental in Maybeboard, because?

@tendouji Good suggestion, I've added it to the maybe board. What I really want in this deck is a Damnation, but my only copy is elsewhere.

@DocMC I originally ran both Fleshbag Marauder and Merciless Executioner, but I decided to just go for Fleshbag Marauder for now due to space constraints.

@BX223Hunter Gaea's Cradle is and probably always will be out of my price range, but I've added the rest to my maybe board and will trade for them if I can get extra copies (they are in another deck).

@Bganoko I have considered it, but it's really just a big fatty with no evasion when Jarad isn't around so it doesn't make the cut.

@wagnerr2 Wake the Dead is very fun, but right now I don't feel like I actually have enough ways to fill the graveyard to properly abuse it. It's in the maybe board for now. Maybe if I can get my hands on another Survival of the Fittest or something it will make the cut.

@DrownBot Yes, I've considered Greater Good but I'm concerned that the majority of my creatures are too small for it to be really great. I put it in the maybe board for now, and it will probably make the cut later on.

@Omega505 Whisperwood Elemental is in the maybe board because it has excellent synergy with the deck, and I'm probably going to add it instead of Mycoloth since it is more resistant to removal and is a better reanimation target.

I got you there but with Greater good and bolas lord of extinction can just win the game by drawing 20+ cards.

Also maybe consider a secondary win condition if you can fit it in of Sadistic hypnotist and Nath of the gilt leaf. With the amount of tutors you play shouldn't be that hard to get them out on the board with meren. Also lets you go wide.

As for your maybe board I would highly suggest Survival of the fittest, greater good, and replace a land for Tower.

How is the the loom and dredging strategy working for you? I removed it from my Meren deck for more impact creatures. I see you don't have some of the obvious combos with mikaeus other than clique and primus. Do you just not want to play Triskelion/mikaeus, triskelion/phyrexian devour/necrotic ooze, phyrexian devour/Jarad combos? I get it if you don't want to play those for the more fun version of commander. I don't know if clique and woodfall are all that much better though so that is why i asked it lol.

Anyway man I really like the deck and it gave me some solid ideas as well. I will have to post my version up soon on this site.

@Bganoko

I'm going to try to get my hands on a Greater Good, I think you are right and that it should be in my list. Lord of Extinction will probably make the cut only once I get a copy of Greater Good.

As I've previously stated, Survival of the Fittest and Phyrexian Tower are not in the deck right now because they are both expensive and hard to find. I'm trying to avoid spending a bunch of money on this deck, so I'm leaving them out for now until my LGS picks up some copies and I can use my store credit.

I like the dredge cards, Life from the Loam in particular. It's especially great with the cycling lands. Golgari Grave-Troll hasn't been incredible, but it's certainly good and I think I will leave it in here for now.

I'm not playing the Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Triskelion combo (and similar combos) because they are boring and the card don't do anything outside of the combo. Puppeteer Clique, Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, and Woodfall Primus are all excellent outside of the infinite combos, so they're in the deck. I don't like playing bad cards just for the sake of having another infinite combo. This isn't a combo deck anyway, it's all about value.

Thanks for your suggestions.
