Horde Magic is an underrated format, in my opinion. It's got all of the energy of free-for-all without any of the bad feelings, all the personality of Commander without any of the politics. (Not to disparage political decks, but sometimes you just need to beat something down with your friends.) It works with any other format--you can use Commander decks, Modern, Standard, Old School, even Cube Draft if you're feeling spicy. And here, the Horde is the forces of New Phyrexia, breaking through the sky and flooding the plane with phyresis and destruction.

This deck has a couple of special rules (as always, adjust as needed to your particular group).

  • The Horde needs to put 10 poison counters per player on the team to win.

  • Life gain from Atraxa, Praetors' Voice's lifelink and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse's second ability is represented by putting cards from the top of the Horde's graveyard onto the bottom of its library.

  • Cards exiled by Urabrask, Heretic Praetor are cast after the resolution of the spells and tokens that the Horde reveals that turn. Cards drawn by Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur will be cast at the same time on the next turn.

  • The Horde will always choose to proliferate counters that benefit it on a surface level and never proliferate counters that harm it on a surface level. As an example, it will always proliferate a +1/+1 counter on its creature, even if the opponent controls a Bold Plagiarist.

The canon event was unsuccessful, but let's rewrite some history. Would you have survived the Realmbreaker Invasion?

Glistener Elf: Phyrexian Insect 1/1 G

Parcel Myr: Phyrexian Myr 2/1 U

Gnarled Mass: Phyrexian Beast 3/3 G

In Progress: Old Phyrexia Horde Magic
