Reworked the deck once again; added Piledriver.

I like the deck, a little different from mine. In the sideboard you have Vexing Shusher. I tried it out myself and I found that it wasn't ever used. Control decks have big problems with this I would consider swapping it out. Of course I have never finished my sideboard either.

Hey jasinatael, thanks for the comments and the upvote! Actually, yeah I find I almost never side it in as well. I like it because it's a bear body with an anti-control ability, but countering is not as much a problem as board wipes. I have actually been thinking about a small White splash for a few key cards: Boros Charm for indestructible and extra burn, and Rest in Peace because I see a lot of graveyard focused decks like Living End, Storm, and Delver. Then again, Delver has a lot of counters, but it's probably best to just outrace them anyway... What do you think?

Out race them all! My local meta had very little graveyard based decks that were a threat. I dumped the graveyard hate in favor of stopping the faster combo decks.

Yeah, that's a good point jasinatael. The graveyard players are dwindling a bit, due to everyone scrapping their Pod decks and moving to Twin. What would you suggest to combat Twin and Scapeshift? Scapeshift not being as big an issue, since I can usually go underneath them before they combo. For Twin, I already have Combust and Torpor Orb; plus my burn spells I'm much more conservative with in that matchup. I was thinking of a small Black splash for Rakdos Charm, and quite possibly Stain the Mind. Maybe some other Black tech would be useful as well?

Also, I run into Tron every now and then, and Pyroclasm is a real bitch. I don't think there's anything I can really do about it though...

Possibly splash in white for Boros Charm?

February 11, 2015 6:30 p.m.

Hey, ImpeyBarbicane, long time no see :). Yeah I have been considering a white splash as well. Due to the decline in graveyard decks in my meta, I decided against the white tech. But you raise a good point with Boros Charm. That's almost too good to pass up. Even mainboard material, as it can be used as a burn spell.

Boros Charm is definitely worth putting in. I have been following this deck list for sometime now and I built something very similar to it except I through in 3 Sacred Foundry and a plains to splash white for Path to Exile and Boros Charm. I also have 2 Arid Mesa and 2 Cavern of Souls.

Also I am sure you already know this but it has come up countless times when I play this deck playing Collateral Damage is a lower cost then paying for Mogg War Marshal echo cost, and you get a little BANG too.

Also Blood Moon stops tron.

Sorry for posting so many comments in a row I have very scattered thoughts.

Check out my deck for sideboard questions, Get Bullied by Goblins!. Blood moon helps with Tron. Pyroclasm sucks, plan around it. Save something in hand and conserve a bit of card advantage. Dismember helps with twin. 4 life is nothing when it wins the game. Spellskite also helps there. Use that life as a resource!

ManicMayhem Thanks for your input, and thanks for staying close with my list :). Yeah Collateral Damage is really great with Mogg War Marshal; it's also great with all the extra tokens that come out, and it's instant so I can play around board wipes and stuff to an extent. I'm almost surely going to make the white splash, it just seems the best way to go. I like having this mono red, but to optimize competitive ability, I think a splash is necessary. Blood Moon is fantastic, and I have tested with it in my sideboard with great success. Problem is, I don't own any copies, and it is not a cheap card to pick up. Nevertheless, I will have to eventually.

jasinatael Yes, I have been following your deck closely. It gave me some inspiration already to alter previous versions of my list. Spellskite is one I've been dying to pick up as well, because I could use it for my Affinity deck too. Again, not a cheap card, but ultimately necessary. Dismember on the other hand, I do have, so I will work that in the sideboard.

Thanks, mates!

Magus of the Moon is generally a much cheaper alternative to Blood Moon.
But why Grafdigger's Cage and Relic of Progenitus? Why not just 2x of one of them?

Since you are now playing white think about Rest in Peace in your board instead of Grafdigger's Cage.

February 17, 2015 1:46 p.m.

Magus of the Moon is easier to kill though. If I'm spending the money, I'm getting Blood Moon. And the Cage and Relic are one-ofs because I only have one of each. I may go with Rest in Peace instead of Grafdigger's Cage, but Cage is easier to cast, especially if Blood Moon is out. I prefer the Relic honestly, since Grafdigger's Cage doesn't prevent Delve, although I wonder how much of an issue that will actually be since the banning of Cruise and Dig... Either way, I'll replace Cage with Rest and see how it works out.
