I took this deck to a LGS for FNM. It ran better than I expected and I ended up placing second.
First round I had the bye.
Second round vs. what appeared to be a BGu Pod, won 2-0. It looked like a mod of the event deck, and he mentioned he didn't have any Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite which would have had a huge impact on his end game. Game 2 I brought in 2x Nevermore and kicked out a Doomed Traveler and Young Wolf. I didn't end up drawing it in this round.
Third round vs. white human centric deck, lost 0-2. Both losses were entirely due to Angelic Destiny. I subbed in 2x Ray of Revelation but never ended up drawing them (or Beast Within) to hit Angelic Destiny or Honor of the Pure. He ended up placing first with his only loss being to a mono black zombie deck similar to one I built and played at the last FNM I attended.
Fourth round vs. pod/ramp with what appeared to be every color except red, won 2-1. First match he had to mulligan down to five and wasn't able to do what his deck was designed to do at all. Second match I had to mulligan and wasn't able to keep up with his pace. I don't believe I was able to use Day of Judgment at all that match. Match 3 was a slugfest with three very important casts of Day of Judgment. The first wiped out a slew of tokens and large threats, the second came a turn later to kill stragglers, and the third was the game winner for me. Predator Ooze shined for me here and was present through every Day of Judgment.
Fifth round vs mono black zombies, won 2-1. Each of these games was brutal. This deck was running 4x Phyrexian Obliterator and they definitely brought the ruckus. I knew they were coming each game but often had no answer to them other than killing them in combat. They did a lot of damage but because of the combination of undying, drawing, and things getting me lands on death I was not as impacted as some other decks may have been to destroying 5 permanents to deal with 1 guy. I subbed in 2x Nevermore which I got to play in the 3rd game. In the third game we both played nothing until turn 4 when he played a Phyrexian Obliterator. I had 3 lands out and passed, then when his turn came I hit him with Beast Within. He responded by casting yet another Phyrexian Obliterator. People thought it was over then, but I drew another land the following turn to allow Day of Judgment, followed by Nevermore to stop Phyrexian Obliterator from being cast again. I managed to maintain a good stride after that and brought him down in a very close game. Pretty much every one of my finishers made an appearance in these games and were dispatched in some form or fashion, save the Sun Titan that ended it for me.
I didn't have 2x Beast Within and 2x Oblivion Ring available for my side board which I think really hurt. Nevermore seemed to be worth subbing in. The match vs. humans made me reconsider having Paraselene in my side board. It doesn't mesh well with Oblivion Ring but vs. another white deck it might be worth it to take out the 2x Oblivion Ring, replacing them with 2x Beast Within, and subbing in a couple Paraselene to deal with the monstrous amount of enchantments most white decks run. If I got my hands on Angelic Destiny my thoughts would change again.
I'm debating whether or not to add in more Solemn Simulacrum and another Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite. Thrun, the Last Troll could probably be kicked out to the side board at least. If I had more of the other finishers like Wurmcoil Engine I'd put them in in a heartbeat. They were easy to get out most of the time and had to be dealt with immediately.
Overall it was a very good experience. I had some of the most intense games I've ever played tonight. It was a blast.
