Spellheart Chimera is pretty terrible in this deck. It just done't get big enough. Glimpse the Future is much worse than Divination , because one gives you card advantage, and the other just can-trips. You should really cut a few big guys for a Prognostic Sphinx . Most underrated card in Standard IMO. You really just need some more removal/counter-magic and the changes mentioned above, and you should be good to go! Hope I helped!

Thanks! Questions:1. What should go for the Sphinx?2. Should I use Archaeomancer rather than Scroll Thief ?3. What other spells should I use?4. IS Stormbreath Dragon better than the giant?

Should I -2x Omenspeaker and -2x Titan's strength and add 4x goblin electromancer?

Instead of Stormbreath Dragon , use Hypersonic Dragon . Instead of Shipbreaker Kraken , use AEtherling . Use Anger of the Gods , Dissolve , Lightning Strike , Mizzium Mortars , Disperse , Cyclonic Rift , and Curse of the Swine to stall until late game. Cards like Jace, Architect of Thought , Steam Augury , Opportunity , and Divination provide your continued card advantage. Turn / Burn is a card that can take down pretty much any creature.

Frostburn Weird can be a great early game creature to block your opponents creatures and is something that survives Anger of the Gods . Omenspeaker can stay because she still has decent toughness, though she can't survive Anger of the Gods .

Nivix Cyclops is a decent creature that survives Anger of the Gods , and can be a great blocker. For example, one Titan's Strength on him allows him to trade with a Polukranos, World Eater . Wall of Frost is also pretty decent.

Your four-drops would be Steam Augury and Jace, Architect of Thought .

Your five drops would be Prognostic Sphinx and Hypersonic Dragon , and lastly, you'd have AEtherling to round out the curve.

Conversely, if you don't like the Anger of the Gods stall plan (like if your metagame has a lot of monsters and not so much aggro), then you may like something more controly. You'd include more Turn / Burn , Mizzium Mortars , and more card advantage to keep there bigger stuff (Desecration Demon , Blood Baron of Vizkopa , Stormbreath Dragon ) in check. Cards like Young Pyromancer allows you to stall with tokens until you get to your finishers, which would remain the same.

Max your Wall of Frost , Cyclonic Rift , and Mizzium Mortars . Negate is kind of pointless here. Since you're playing so many large creatures that give a good devotion count, maybe try Keranos, God of Storms . It provides good card advantage, and has a large body when it's a creature.

Although, if you're on a tight budget and not really playing any FNM soon, I would recommend holding off on getting Cyclonic Rift and Mizzium Mortars as they would be rotating soon, and it would probably be a waste of money.

Why is aetherling so much better than the kraken?

June 19, 2014 12:24 p.m.

tiagomorais says... #7

Cause aetherling cant die, is unblockable and its very very versatile, the kraken on the other hand is slow and to proper use you must use his monstruosity that i dont realy find it that good

Definitely drop Stoneshock Giant and Ill-Tempered Cyclops completely. You could consider playing Keranos, God of Storms since he's more difficult to remove than other creatures and has a sweet effect. With only 4 sorceries I would definitely stay away from Hypersonic Dragon since he's not that great of a flying body for 5 mana. Stormbreath Dragon is absolutely better, especially versus control - his monstruous makes him a 7/7 and has a great trigger.

With your slow deck speed you'll need 3-4 Anger of the Gods as well, otherwise you will probably lose every aggro matchup. ): You can keep them in the sideboard if you feel you don't need them main, but they will become important when your opponent starts throwing down the red/white/black weenies.

Do i have too much land?

June 19, 2014 12:29 p.m.

Yup, definitely a bit too many lands. I usually cap my decks at around 23 lands, although I know some decks need a bit more, but 27 for a 2 colour deck is definitely a bit too much. If you're worried of not getting land drops, 24 lands should theoretically give you consistent land drops up till turn 6-7.

Hypersonic Dragon has the same stats as Stormbreath Dragon , a card he already said is out of his budget. Hypersonic Dragon also makes cards that aren't that great pretty good (Curse of the Swine , Divination , Mizzium Mortars ). The interaction between Curse of the Swine and Anger of the Gods is also pretty nice.

However, if the Stormbreath Dragon becomes an option, definitely do that.

AEtherling or Shipbreaker Kraken ?

Very nice variation of the izzet deck.

May I suggest adding Magma Jet for additional burn and draw filtering.

You can have a an izzet deck without Izzet Charm !

What do you reckon I should switch out? Thanks for the comment by the way.

Why is Izzet charm better than negate or shock?

June 21, 2014 12:39 a.m.

rhyptherock, Izzet Charm is more flexible, it's basically 3 cards in 1. Although the respective effects may be a bit worse when compared to Negate or Shock , you wouldn't want to be in a situation where you have a Shock , but you need to counter something, or you need to burn a creature, but hold a Negate in hand. The hand filtering also ensures it will never be a dead card.

Yup, that sums all the reason why you want to have Izzet Charm
