The past few weeks have really been a different experience for our play group, proving that MtG really is versatile and has many alternate styles of play.

July 3rd saw us at The Horse Brass for a few rounds of EDH (I really dislike how Wizard's took ownership of the format and renamed it "Commander". Sure, I understand as a marketer why they did it, but I hate it).

Last night saw us being invited to a release party for the new 2013 core set. Hosted by Eisner Award winning comic book shop Bridge City Comics and coordinated by merrickmonroe, it was a fantastic event. With food, beverages (included our often demanded: BEER!) and grab bags of goodies. Not just throw away goodies either, Avacyn Restored Event decks! (Some ~awesome~ cards in those decks.)

I fared quite poorly, but it was great to see my friends having a blast.
