Abnormal Vampires (rot. friendly)

Standard Aggro Arena Budget Competitive WB (Orzhov)

Sorcery (3)

This is a VERY different build of Vampires not including the usual top-end, and not using any rotating rares. I built this on arena using free cards, and not spending too many wilds on the old sets.

But this version works REALLY well, and quickly got me to mythic, and I recently completed 2 separate 7-1 runs in constructed events. It works because it's super-aggressive running more than double the pumps of a normal vampires list and having a lower curve. This is exactly what you need in the current meta. Get them dead before ramp decks get going or before control decks get stopping you. Also vs. mono-red we're fast enough eventually big enough to outrace or outblock them. Normal vampires are just outclassed, and Feather decks don't work well on defense.

Standout cards

Vampire of the Dire Moon - an unassuming 1/1 that stops many of the biggest enemy threats, and/or grows to be an aggressive menace that provides 6 point life swings.

Gods Willing - One of my all-time favorite cards, so many uses. 1 mana stops a removal spell and scries you, OR makes your biggest guy unblockable so you can execute the kill, OR foils red sweepers, OR lets you block and keep your guy alive another turn. Can make your 3/2 beat a Chainwhirler.

Unbreakable Formation - ABSOLUTE BOMB. Way better than Sanctum Seeker , and should be 4 copies. In board stalls, your guys get bigger, attack with impunity, deal damage, force chump blocks, get through for extra damage, earn lifegain, AND everybody is still ready to block on the swing-back. OR, it fizzles the Time Wipe your opponent was absolutely counting on to save himself, or is a surprise combat trick to just win or tie every block made.

Blood Burglar - prefer over Child of Night because it can block those 1/1s, and with a pump attack into 2/2s safely. On offense an eventual 4/4 lifelink is pretty good.

Cruel Celebrant - recent substitute for Blood Burglar, gives extra reach in the end game, like Vicious Conquistador or Sanctum Seeker might. Could go either way with this card.

Conclave Tribunal - so many games I'm glad to get that planeswalker out of my life, and castable even when I'm stuck on 2 lands. It's easy to convoke with those cards (Legion Lieutenant) that didn't want to block anyway. Also really good as a convokable followup to a devasted board produced by Unbreakable Formation .

Bloodthirsty Aerialist - Often solves single-handedly the problems with UW flyers, mono-U, angels, demons, and planeswalkers guarded by ground crews. With 10 sources of lifegain, it can easily become a 4/5 flyer for 3. And then it gets even bigger. Quite respectable, even if not as ridiculously OP as it is here:

Normal Cards

Knight of the Ebon Legion - Probably the best card in the deck. Can win the game by itself if not killed.

Adanto Vanguard - Second best card in the deck. The card control decks hate. Just dodge the -X spells (Gods Willing can help) and they can't get rid of it.

Legion Lieutenant - one of two cards to pump the team, making it likely your little guys grow to 3 or 4.

Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord - A fine card in many situations. Dealing that last bit of damage to the opponent or a planeswalker is but one unique role. Not as exciting without the 4 and 5 drops in typical lists though. Budget players could replace him.

Isolated Chapel - should be 4, but I've only got so many arena rares, and don't want to splurge on rotating cards. Still, I'm climbing the Diamond ranks so the deck is great even with this impediment.

I play vampires on Arena, but I think the BEST standard deck now is Merfolk. People don't know it because it didn't work out a year ago and there are hardly any new Merfolk, but the meta changed and now this deck absolutely stomps.

Got bored of Vampires, after hitting mythic with this list. Found a new deck to reuse my favorite 1-drops.

This new deck works well already, and will not rotate!
