Hey guys. I did a Fnm this past week with new perspectives without a proper sideboard.
While the deck didn't preform well I had a blast playing it. Mainly I need to learn how to play the deck better and make wiser choices along with having a decent sideboard.
Round 1 - R eldrazzi 1-2
This eldrazi deck was actually very slow and the only reason I lost the 3rd match was lack of a mountain for searing suns and a plains for gideons intervention. Either land would have given me a couple of turns which would have allowed me to combo out and deal with his attackers. At the time I sideboarded gideons intervention. Which helped but with only having 2 plains it was hard to come up with the mana for it.
Round 2 - RDW 0-2
I had terrible starting hands here. Mulled down to 5 and 4 respectively in both games with lack of more than 1 land each hand. Each time I was zerged down before being able to do anything really
Round 3- bye
Round 4 Esper Sun 1-2
This was a very tit-for-tat round that was actually kind of boring because we were both concentatng on finding sun. When I was able to achieve combo I was able to win for the most part. Both losses involved him having 2 runs in hand and not trying to draw into it again. 3rd game loss was a bad play on my part. I had to choose between playing new perspectives so I could combo next turn or playing giddeons intervention after playing the first sun. Chose perspectives and promptly lost to a hard cast sun from hand next turn.
Overall I feel like my choice of sideboarding was incorrect. Which is not surprising since I just took my U/W control decks sideboard instead of making a proper one. Now I have created one for next week. Im not very good at counters for meta decks so I made different mode for it just incase I run into counters and card removal. With abandoned sarcophagus and a couple of aggressive creatures I intend to go from sun win condition to control and big creatures to win the game. This mode is really only intended to target control and other combo decks because I do have quite a few answers for aggressive decks.
