Here are the results of the post:Scylla and Charybdis Deckbuilder Challenge.

10th Place

$ªmHεiπ - SC Reanimator

Reanimator was one of the most prevalent deck archetypes that I saw in this competition and many were very similar. What put this one above the rest? Pure efficiency. Many of the decks submitted were great on godhand and smashed but this was a deck that rarely needed muliganning. By turn 2 or maybe 3 I had the mana I needed and a card in the graveyard ready to Exhumefoil. It worked because it was balanced and had tons of outs. Control was too slow against it and so was token.

9th Place

pookypuppy6 - deck:The Z Squad!

pookypuppy6 had creativity points for being the only player reliant upon using the Zendikon cycle to a T. This deck did not let you down. I nearly always had a creature dropping almost every turn. So even against those that put creature control in this guy could really stand up. Terra Eternal and Bear Umbra also played their parts well, but were not always seen as soon as needed, leading to losses.

8th place

capwner - I like to ride my bicycle

On godhand, this thing is epic. Or if you mulligan to 3 cards it could be epic. The creativity was nice to see. Elephant Resurgence had the potential to drop a huge creature on turn 3 and potentially swing for the win. If you got a Fluctuator and it was not disrupted. On a perfect day, this deck is great, but in real matches it is fragile. It does have a field day against reanimator though.

7th place

dude1818 - Rock Hard: Synthetic Life

I saw animating artifacts, I saw manlands. But this bad boy was both kinda. Almost every card, that was dropped was a threat. The main issue this deck had was gaining momentum. Since almost all the lands are slow lands. It was constantly a turn behind.

6th place

xeratheenigma - deck:fire and brimstone

So my first thought was, cool someone used Fire and Brimstone. Sadly no they did not. But they did build a cool deck. xeratheenigma did put together a reanimation deck that was very creative, using red for card draw and discard and Living Death to bring his beasties back. This deck even took on other reanimation machines by using Faerie Macabre. Memoricide dealt with the pesky combo decks that failed to launch early, or by turn 2 in the second game with Dark Ritual helping out once you knew what to snag.

5th place

Jarrod_0067 - Where are they all...?

That's right. The first entry in the competition placed. This thing was a token machine. and was ready for agro in a big way. This thing ramped into some bigger tokens that just kept coming and could take advantage of an odd combo. Awakening Zone tokens could attack for the sole purpose of pumping the card:beastmaster's ascension. At which point you start dropping 8/8 elephants and 9/9 dragons. With some more chumps around and Doom Blade making some room, this guy could stomp.

4th place

pookypuppy6 - Planeswalker Boxing

Creative? YES Effective? Yes...kinda. Oddest combo of the competition? Hell Yes! This is something I would do.
"I am gonna play nothing but planeswalkers"
"OK sure"
"I am gonna turn them into artifacts."
"OK? Why?"
"I am gonna animate artifacts and alpha strike. Got a Shatterstorm"
"No...That was weird..."
Somewhat fragile because of the combo, this deck still worked due to tokens and such as well.

3rd place

user:blueclay - deck:Turn, turn, turn... dragon!

Ok, so one loophole in the challenge. ONE! And then you get this. user:blueclay decided that since there are 15 different versions of Final Fortune that card:isochron sceptor was a great card to put in too. Here is the idea. Mulligan until you have and Isochron Scepter, survive for 2 turns while you play it. Take as many turns as you like until you get Dragon Roost out. Keep taking turns till you beat them to death. My only question. Where is Pact of the Titan and Pact of Negation? Other people used them but not this guy.

2nd place

IPyro92 - It's time to Ascend

Ascension decks are a dime a dozen, but not like this. IPyro92 Used some of the normal control to Unsummon the Exhumefoiled beasties and all but had better ways of dealing with stuff a bit later. AEther Flash pretty much wiped token decks out. Then Bottled Cloister + Ensnaring Bridge gave ascension all the room it needed to work. Very creative take on a common deck.

1st place

user:blueclay - Aerial Domination

user:blueclay's second build to make it and wins. Why did this deck win. it looked at the meta. If you reanimate some huge flyer - Island of Wak-Wak. You got manlands, he has Rune of Protection: Lands, artifact swarm - Rune of Protection: Artifacts, reanimator - Leyline of the Void. And it goes on and on like this. Until Luminarch Ascension or Sigil of the Empty Throne have a chance to beast you.

Well thank you all for participating. Until next time, keep building.
