M15

APPLE01DOJ, 11 years ago

Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth + Phyrexian Revoker M15 is bringing a few good things :)

Not the biggest fan of Painlands but adding some Llanowar Wastes for a more consistent mana base.

Will use Sign in Blood post rotation & DRS will be replaced with Slyvan Caryatid

Made some tweaks and loving the new build: - splashed black for Corspejack Menace (I couldn't resist trying and I haven't regretted it one bit. The double evolve when he drops is huge on its own.) - went up to two one drops and added Experiment One which has also been a huge success. Regenerate is nothing to scoff at and comes in handy almost every game. - put Kiora, the Crashing Wavefoil back in because the buffer she creates while I evolve and build up counters can really make all the difference. Her ult has happened more than I would have expected as well. Big bodies in this deck early with the Elusive Krasis. - decreased the counter giving spells in light of running Corpsejack Meance and they seem to be at just the right amount now. Any more advice (especially on the sideboard!) would be very much appreciated though. Not sure if this thing has a chance of going number one at a tourney, but I'm still going to try. :)

First Playtesting

k1rbz, 11 years ago

So yesterday i had my first short playtesting session and i was surprised how well the lockdown engine actually worked. Nobody really expected such kind of deck philosophy and the first game against everyone was full of fetching, shocking and basically hurting themselves until they realised - that's not good at all.

First game - UWB Rogue Mill
Mill with little to no removal spells and basically just milling me - it was some kind of race but i had a great hand and goblin guide + molten rain + blood moon screwed my opponent alot.

Second Game - Mono Red Burn
I've been a little unlucky with draws, got destroyed in the first game but after sideboarding it was a quite even race and i made it to the third game - at the end of the day i still lost with somewhat like 0 to 4 life or something so it was really close, not bad at all.

Third Game - Melira Pod
I had the most respect for Melira Pod known as Tier 1 deck but somehow it turned out, that i have a surprisingly good matchup against Pod. Game one was literally just burning my opponent out with land destruction until i had him on 2 lands locked and that was game with a couple of burn and snapcaster beating
Game 2 was even easier when i dropped my blood moon turn 2 and had a goblin guide already going full ham followed by two molten rains on turn 3 and 4 he just conceded.

Fourth Game - Loam Seismic Assault
Game 1 was basically testing out how my opponents deck work, because i did not exactly know how those decks play in particular - i still managed to win game one with simple burn beatdown before he got his engine running.
Game 2 i screwed myself by boarding a little bit wrong
Game 3 was the hell of a close game.. he sustained my early pressure and managed to get me into topdeck mode while being not able to assault me because i kept pressure with mutavault and goblin guide + countermagic to hinder him from using loam every turn after 18 turns or something he finally won when i lacked a singleton of dmg to kill him.

All in all, to sum it up - I have to say i'm really looking forward into this project. The deck is alot of fun to play, it has a lot of tools to adjust the playstyle and the match ups seemed not so bad.
Also despite of running ZoZu and being the namesake of the deck, i consider trying to run fetchlands anyways because it was kinda difficult to get 2 islands after sideboarding when i chosed to play with blood moon.

After a lot of playtesting, a lot of cards have been removed/replaced. Still needs a lot of work though, I'd love to hear suggestions!

Complete overhaul. New deck pretty much.

It's gone.

The deck is now taken apart and most is already traded. The deck you should check out is deck:looking-at-the-stars(b/w-constellation) because that's what I am working on.

so made some changes like, adding a life gain combo with ephara's radiance and oreskos sun guide. added a whtie sun's zenith to the mix. looking for a second i think. still trying to work out some kinks with the deck. on 6/21/14 my daughter played in her first GPT at our local game store (NH Sports and Gaming). She did good for her first time

so changed the deck name and the side board. found that my biggest problem was no longer witchbane orb but emrakul, the aeons torn. him and mill just dont mix. so changed up my side board to deal with him and hopefully most tron decks. added sadistic sacrament and appetite for brains. also added an 3rd copy of archive trap and a few copies of elixir of immortality if needed. on 6/21/14 played in a GPT Boston event at my local shop (NH Sports and Gaming). the deck performed well . unfortunately didnt get to try the new side board out.

Updates with Liliana Vess and Black Cat spoiled. Hoping for even more discard mechanics- maybe even on a BG Garruk?
