So I'm building a locally-competitive Tasigur, the Golden Fang control deck, but not sure quite how to build it. I'm looking for advice.

I tried to build the deck with win-con combos like Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond , but that ran too slow and was too flimsy. I've thought about sticking Kiora's in, but hesitate at the thought of giving up that much mana on my turn with little board effect.

How do minimal-creature Tas control decks win? Thru planeswalkers and/or insta-win combos? AEtherling, True-Name Nemesis?

Ultimately, an effective deck is the goal. If it means Archfiend of Depravity to keep a board clear, so be it... A proven ratio of counter, kill, and draw spells... I'm really open to any conversation! Budget considerations.

Generally with Sultai control you want to just combo off (or so I've found). I don't run a Tasigur, the Golden Fang deck, but I run Damia, Sage of Stone as a combo control shell: Damia Morgendorffer. It might give you some ideas.

The deck is built around Tooth and Nail and infintite mana/draw effects. Realistically there's no reason you can't run a similar build with Tasigur. You can however look into more graveyard based combos. One Tasigur deck I know of runs cards like Aluren, Blasting Station and Mortus Strider to create an infinite damage loop.

But you can look at integrating things like Nim Deathmantle, Ashnod's Altar / Phyrexian Altar and Palinchron / Avenger of Zendikar kind of combos. Graveyard based combos will synergise with your commander slightly more but aren't required.

I hope this gives you a bit of an idea. If you have any more / more specific questions, feel free to ask. I also run a Saffi Eriksdotter combo deck (Just Stay Dead) which uses the same kind of recursion concepts, albeit in white.

slightly off-topic for a moment, I just got a Saffi for my Mayael the Anima deck, can she target herself, and go sac/return infinitely with Altars (it doesn't say another)?

Back on topic, I'll check your deck out after I'm out of work later. The problem I have with infinite combos, unfortunately, is that one or many of the pieces are over $20, and I'm not quite open enough to spend like that... which is probably why I have an AEtherling in the deck atm, it's a super-budget WTF card that has no easy answer and can put opponents on a quick clock.

Saffi can target herself, but because she sacs herself as part of the cost when her ability tries to resolve she's no longer on the battlefield so it fizzles. You need to combo her with something like Karmic Guide and an altar.

Back on topic - do you mind infinite combo (ignoring dollar costs)? If you're happy to run them, I can have a think of some cheaper to buy infinite combos for the deck.

Yeah just tell us how you feel about infinite combos. I know of a good number of budget combos for infinite mana/tokens/life etc.

If you want to do Tasigur Control you may find the deck here:

www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/commander-edh/multiplayer-commander-decklists/585425-tasigrrrrr-the-golden-fang-infinite-recursion

to be valuable (why wouldn't the create link option work? Anyway). It's very high budget as presented but you can cut a lot in the manabase. The creature list will be harder to swap out for other options if you don't have copies or can justify their cost, though. That said, it may give you ideas for what to try.
