Recent Changes —Feb. 23, 2016

I swapped out the remaining 2 Faerie Miscreants for Eldrazi Displacers. They add another layer of control and ETB triggers. Had to adjust the lands to accommodate by adding the Foundry of the Consuls.

Another change I made was to the spells. I swapped out the Valorous Stance for the Immolating Glare in the sideboard. The latter has been much more effective with the current meta. Valorous Stance is now in sideboard for matches with bigger creatures or for additional protection from removal.

I took out the Starfield of Nyx to bring in 2 more Valorous Stance and games are running much more consistently with the additional removal/protection. Thanks for all of the suggestions everyone. I don't know how this deck has been performing for anyone else but it is stomping on the meta where I play. I'd like to hear some feedback about how its doing for you if you are playing it.

Have you tested Eldrazi Skyspawner instead of Shorecrasher Elemental? Flyers are more relevant in your deck, aren't they?

I tried out the Eldrazi Skyspawner and it didn't do much for me. Even with Mirror Mockery it was too easy for opponents to deal with and not worth protecting. Shorecrasher Elemental however is extremely useful in this deck. It has won me many games and can survive just about anything my opponent throws at it. If I can get a Mockeried Reflector Mage on the board with Shorecrasher, I can swing for 7 each turn with impunity :).

I play tested this quite a bit, and I'm going to be honest. You want (NEED) a playset of Disperse in the sideboard to play against U/R Prowess. Even when you bounce their creatures back, haste and prowess triggers hurt when they have turn 5 mana and graveyard recursion and shiz. a well played Disperse to bounce back a super buffed unblockable stormchaser is a very solid way of securing a win against prowess. Also disperse can be used to bounce back their creatures you might've missed with Reflector Mage (since it's common to see 2 Monastery Swiftspear played in a row. And last but not least. In the event of removal, you can choose to save a creature, or bounce back Mirror Mockery. Arashin Cleric is also incredible to play against burn/UR Prowess.

I like the suggestion for Disperse. I've been using Dispel and Singing Bell Strike for U/R Prowess very effectively, but the thing that really intrigues me is saving Mirror Mockery from removal! I will test Disperse and see how it plays. :)

So, I don't mean to be rude, but I don't see how this is a good tempo deck. You can't really stop any creature until turn 3 and it doesn't really have much impact late game based on your creature combos. Also, just main boarding negates is going to get you nowhere. Shorecrasher Elemental is so bad in this deck not to mention ojutai is so damn easy to destroy with the current meta. Immolating Glare, grasp of darkness, stasis snare, languish, surge of righteousness, and some others. That is why ojutai has dropped to like 9$. At first glance it looks like an aggro deck with 24 creatures. Stratus Dancers are so damn slow it is a morph that you have to invest 5 fucking mana in to get any value out of it. Good luck.

Disperse doesn't do much vs haste. Better to put down a creature like Blinding Drone that can keep that haste creature tapped. Send to Sleep is also better. If you want it for your Mockery and ETB creatures, then Rite of Undoing is better. Used it in a blue enchantment deck before at FNM. Returns the enchantment and the opponent's creature for as low as one blue.

LOL, I like how you preface your comment with I don't mean to be rude. Personally, this has been a very fun deck to play. Most of my matches enjoy playing against this deck since its not the same top tier decks they see every day. My success rate so far is around 70% which I consider excellent since I don't play competitively at tournaments. More importantly, I have a blast playing magic with this deck. Of course, I'm sure everything you say has merit and I thank you for your feedback. As far as not meaning to be rude, no worries. A prick is usually oblivious to the fact that he is one, so I'm sure any offense was completely unintentional. Cheers ;)

Oh sorry MagicalShrek, I was responding to pillarofcats comment not yours. I didn't think your criticism was rude at all.

Wingmate Roc could be amazing here as you get an extra 3/4 permanently

I can't believe I overlooked Wingmate Roc for this deck! I am going to put that in immediately. Thank you so much for the suggestion Tenebris_Nocte!

Heres a list i took to FNM 2 or so weeks ago.

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/mirror-mid-range/

  • 3-1 losing to the boogeyman Esp Dragons.

Performed very well, an updated list would probably slide 4 mages and be good to go.

Scope that Angel's Tomb, was thrown is as a joke that evening. Ended up doing a lot work. Synergy with spy network and mockeries each turn on a 'may' trigger.

I know its jank, but 'activate Angel's Tomb, swing' got a lot of nice reacitons.

Why is Shambling Vent in this deck? I feel it's important for lands to be untapped in this deck. Could be wrong.

I like your deck eyesnine. I'm going to test Hangarback Walker as a substitution for Shorecrasher Elemental and see how that runs. Might be a great use of unspent mana.

Forgot to mention a nice interaction I came across.

Ran into a guy playing an enchantment control list, Silkwrap, Snare, isolation zone, Starfield etc.. played Mockery on a felidar Cub, swing sac repeat ad needed getting back your permanents.

February 10, 2016 5:50 p.m.

Um, what's the point of the Shambling Vent? You don't run black mana, so it's just a tapped Plains...

February 10, 2016 7:58 p.m.

But why not just play plains...? The chance that you get both of them out at the same time is small and not worth playing tapped lands. Not to mention that by the time you get them out, a 2/3 will likely make a small difference if your opponent is still alive (in which case you're probably dead anyways).

Loreshadow says... #21

It's not a 2/3, it's a 2/3 lifelink. Big difference.

Definately need 4 Reflector Mage in any white/blue deck. Just insanity. Used it in my Displacement deck and even land screwed unable to displace my wins were done with mostly reflector on its own. Especially ceippling vs aggro.

I've playtested Hangarback Walker and it is amazing in this deck. The last game I played, they cracked a 3/3 Hangarback while I had a Thunderclap Wyvern and Stratus Dancer on board. The next turn I Mockeried the TW and swung for 15 in the air - Game over! Definitely much better than the Shorecrasher Elementals that I will be replacing. The question now is should I just use 2? The only card I'd consider swapping anther one for is Faerie Miscreant, and that card-draw engine with her has served me well.

Added Erase to the Sideboard for all the pesky removal enchantment buzzing around the meta.
