Eldrazi Skyspawner Discussion

NobleGhost117 on Eldrazi exile

Alright, okay. Sit down, buckle in because as someone who loves Eldrazi there's a few suggestions that you may just love for this deck.

If this deck is based around exiling your opponent's stuff (be it library or on the field), then mana ramping into big eldrazi to finish off the game, you're gonna want a rather focused deck. Things like Drownyard Behemoth aren't great because, in order for you to reduce it's cost to something practical, you either need to sacrifice your big finishers OR one or two mana dorks. Neither of these are great. Instead there's a very interesting finisher in Ulamog's Despoiler. It costs less mana for a larger creature that will beat your opponents down faster.

The other problem with the current concept is your average converted mana cost for your stuff. Right now it's 5.70. To put that in perspective, on average to cast something in your deck you're going to need 6 mana. Even if you have a few mana dorks on the field, you won't have a noteworthy field presence until at least turn 4. What you're gonna want to do is add lower cost creatures and remove some higher cost ones that don't really impact the game immediately. I'll break down specifics below:

Blisterpod: Great early blocker that turns into mana. 10/10 would include in ramp.

Eldrazi Skyspawner: Same as above, except you get the mana right away AND you get a flier.

Fathom Feeder: Holy crap is this guy value. A 1/1 deathtoucher that ingests. Your opponents are damned if they block, damned if they don't. Not to mention he's late game card draw with ingest. Absolute favorite low-cost eldrazi right there.

Sludge Crawler: A cheap ingester that is pumpable late game. Easy include

Wasteland Strangler: Stat-wise this guy kinda sucks, but if you ingested a card earlier in the game, he turns into a 3/2 for 3 mana that is also a potential kill-spell on a stick. Brain blast.

Oblivion Sower: This guy is no joke. He's a mid-cost eldrazi that will not only exile your opponent's top few cards, he will also potentially ramp into more mana that will help you cast even more big things.

Finally there's a few non-creatures I want to talk about. You have From Beyond for constant mana-ramp, as well as tutoring for an Eldrazi card. A good 1- or 2-of in the deck. For more control cards, you have Transgress the Mind for hand-hate and Titan's Presence for easy removal if you have a large eldrazi in your hand. Remember that anything with Devoid is considered colorless, so you could reveal a Dread Defiler and it would still be fine.

Hope this helped, and I'm sorry if I came off as angry or rude. I really love the deck concept :)

Some powerfull eldrazi are Kozilek, the Great Distortion or Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger. They are kind of expensive so try to put in some more ways to spawn eldrazi scions that you can sacrifice for mana; Such as Eldrazi Skyspawner, However, most of them are green cards, such as Blisterpod or Call the Scions. If you do add green you could also check out World Breaker.

You could try to fit it into a Bant Eldrazi deck. Matter Reshaper is the dream to emerge from, and Eldrazi Skyspawner or even Thought-Knot Seer (respond to the ETB trigger with emerge) can be fine as well. You'd have to rework the mana to fit Deep-Fiend in, most likely.

I would suggest adding in more powerful Eldrazi, including Drowner of Hope and Thought-Knot Seer, both which are great. I'd also say to add Eldrazi Temple if you up the number of Eldrazi, to power them out quicker. For your mana dorks, keep them at 1 CMC, so this would mean getting some Arbor Elf + Utopia Sprawl, Elvish Mystic, or Noble Hierarch (the latter being mediocre in this deck).

If flipping Westvale Abbey  Flip is really your plan, I suggest going a different route, as Awakening Zone is a bit too slow. If you are keeping Eldrazi, Eldrazi Skyspawner and Eldrazi Displacer would be awesome, but if you want more tokens, Krenko's Command, Dragon Fodder and Hordeling Outburst are in your colors, and aren't bad.

I'm not sure trying to have multiple plans like this will work, as a more coherent plan is typically more powerful.

Just my two cents! Good luck!

Dropping the Eldrazi Skyspawner for Grasp of Darkness. I'm trying to consider more tempo cards, bounce, flicker, etc. Grasp of Darkness is a bit tricky to cast early.

This looks slightly more fun. Vile Redeemer and Shielded Aether Thief are nice surprises for the creature meta. Eldrazi Skyspawner and Vile Redeemer can act like ramp spells at the right time. This means that the black spells are a bit harder to deal with. Reduced the number of black removal in the mainboard to compensate and slew around the lands.

Lumbering Falls is really a house in this meta of millions of removals.

Keos027 I made the switch for the Eldrazi Skyspawner.

I'm still not convinced on Privileged Position maybe Spawning Bed or Sanctum of Ugin I can then Put 3 in and I get the same outcome for a minor price. I'm leaning towards the Sanctum of Ugin more there are only more Spawnsire of Ulamog's and I can still sac the Spawning Bed and get more mana.

I knew that Drowner was a bit of a stretch though I still wanted to mention it.

Ruination Guide though seems a bit out of place. I feel like it does not contribute to the goal of the deck, which is to get Spawnsire of Ulamog down on the field and 'ultimating'. If you went for the Scion beatdown, maybe. So Eldrazi Skyspawner could take its place. It is a flyer, can put some pressure/chump and get you a Scion for mana.

I'd probably replace Privileged Position for Cryptolith Rite since hexproof on a wideboard isn't that necessary. Indestructible from Eldrazi Monument protect from boardwipe. You might not need 4 Rite either.
