Starcity open Winner 2-2 —Feb. 5, 2013

Check this link to view the winner's deck... guess what it was... NAYA HUMANS

http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=52796

However, it is a slower version of my deck, it devastated the tournament, and blew past everyone.

I was thinking bout splashing red into my G/W human deck when I stumbled upon this deck. I've been play testing it for about twenty minuets and it seems very fun, have you had an opportunity to test this deck at FNM yet?

Phew, being gone all weekend leaves up a lot of replying to do. Ok.

@ Araj

I was debating running Madcap Skills ... Shit, that reminds me. I changed my deck before FNM started, so i'll have to update what list i ran after all this. I took Madcap Skills out. I feel the damage would have been awesome, but with Rancor , i can double-strike trample with Silverblade Paladin if i need too, or just plain jane, prevent them from chumping with Lingering Souls , also, I don't get 2-for-1'd. I'd lose Madcap Skills permanently, but with Rancor , i keep getting it back. :)

3 Silverblade Paladin 's is enough. I actually only saw one on friday, and it didnt impact my wins at all. You'll see my updated list, and i decided to have Boros Reckoner mainboard... and holy shit did it do work. Far better than i would have hoped.

I'm only running a 1-of card:Aurelia's Fury, you are right, a mid-range deck with more mana can make a better use of it's abilities, however, it did help me win a stalemate game against a defender-infinite mana combo deck. (phew).

I dont like Experiment One for this deck, for one, its only ever a 2-2, and for two... 8 one-drops is all i need.

Thalia, Guardian of Thraben came in against every deck from the sideboard. I like having it in the sideboard because they don't see it the first game, even if they expect it. Its always good to catch them off guard.

@ PTsmitty

card:Slayers' Stronghold vs Kessig Wolf Run

Honestly, i like both for this deck, for now, i'm testing how relevant trample is vs. the haste. It seems the most i will ever buff a creature with Kessig Wolf Run is probably 3 or 4, but as games last longer against control, i could add maybe 5 or 6, and that can make a difference.

I could say it the other way, and that haste would be better against the control decks, forcing them to deal with ALL my creatures coming in with haste, giving them a real problem. For now, with all the first strike or better that i possess, adding trample to the mix is more beneficial.

so far...

@ oakenshild

I did add Boros Reckoner , however, i also took out Madcap Skills . I want to use the card, but im still not sure on the 2-for-1 bullcrap that removal will take advantage of. I'll have to iron out when to use it and when not to... but for now, i'm running Mugging ... Which... holy GOD works good. I mugged a Tree of Life for a win LOL got its fruit!

Also, the mana base is hilariously reliable. I didnt run into a single problem. Sure i have a lot of plains... but they ALSO provide green or red mana. With an even split, i always have a green and a red for Burning-Tree Emissary . Or i could just use Cavern of Souls .

I'd like to thank everyone and all the interest they have put into this deck. I'll be posting the play-by-play in a little while, going through in the most detail possible how I did at FNM. I played against a blue-green defender deck with an infinite mana combo, a black red curse deck, a gruul aggro deck with bloodrush (dear god), and a Chavest tokens deck (dear double god)

The gruul matchup was the most frightening, and i had to play defensive the whole game... which is not very appealing for my deck. THANK GOD FOR Boros Reckoner !!!

Looks fun I might mess around and try out Thatcher's Revolt in my naya deck, also took out selesnya charm and replaced it with Madcap Skills , Definately think you might want to try Immortal Servitude in the sideboard, since you can cast it for 2 and flop most of your dead creatures back onto the board (and gain mana if there's any emissarys)

I have considered it. Its just a shame that there aren't better 1 drop humans to run, because I'd much rather keep bringing back Champion of the Parish with 5 counters or more every time, and I'm not a big fan of Experiment One .

Its just tough, because i can't really think of anything in the sideboard I'd like to take out. They have all been so helpful against almost every deck.

As far as one drops go I'm thinking of dropping Experiment One because there are not alot of cards that would cause him to evolve in my low curve deck and instead running either Legion Loyalist or Boros Elite going to do some play testing with all 3 and see which one comes out on top.

Legion Loyalist gives trample to all attacking dudes with battalion active, something that weenie decks haven't really ever had. Rancor works wonders for that, but giving trample to everything sounds pretty amazing, especially against token decks.

Boros Elite .

100%

do it. :D

Legion Loyalist is good only against the mirror in this kind of deck. The first strike is really really good, to ensure no trading happens, preventing them from wanting to block effectively... but i feel that Legion Loyalist would be better in a mid-range deck with bigger creatures to utilize the trample.

However. Boros Elite is soooo strong for this aggro deck!

Was honestly thinking about taking Boros Elite just because he replicates the desired combo with champion for turn 2 to do 7 dmg, also I feel that as a turn 3 or 4 drop he's more solid than Champion of the Parish would be, ideally though turn 3 should kill them with Kessig Malcontents

February 4, 2013 11:20 a.m.

jmoody0612 says... #14

Agreed. Boros Elite is the better of the two. For some reason I was thinking about my own deck that already runs it, and just blabbed away about Legion Loyalist . This past FNM when I dropped Boros Elite T1, some of my friends that didn't know what I was playing were like, "That's so bad, Experiment One is better." Then I drop Burning-Tree Emissary and Lightning Mauler , swing with battalion for 7 on T2 and then they are like, "Ohhhhhhhhh, ouch."

Even with me running 3 Frontline Medic in Naya Tribe, Experiment One still isn't as good as Boros Elite .

I really do miss running Kessig Malcontents . The name of this deck derived from them. I just don't have space anymore, and they weren't putting up the data i really desired.

I'm excited that you're able to pull it off.

In terms of card draw, what do you think of card:Descendants' Path? If you are running all humans it might be good.

February 4, 2013 6:39 p.m.

Vos_Is_Boss says... #19

I have thought about it, it is on my "cards-yet-to-test" list. However, i haven't made it a priority yet, because I always end up playing my creatures in strategic junctions. Like... when the board is open and clear against control... saving a Lightning Mauler and a Silverblade Paladin to play for a smash.

The concept is solid, but by turn 3 i'm usually playing cards to win that turn.

What are your responses to cards like Homing Lightning or Stromkirk Noble ?
