If the opponent is heavy on removal, hold back on casting your creature until you can get enough mana to cast it and still have a mizzium skin hanging back.

Side in Izzet Staticaster against token-heavy decks and decks that run a lot of 1-toughness creatures. Side in Mugging against decks with big blockers or important 2-toughness creatures. Negate acts as more protection for your creatures, while Pithing Needle aims to stop planeswalkers and pack rats, lotleth troll, etc. Turn // Burn the big guys and the indestructible guys, and bring in Ral Zarek for more mana, tapping down blockers, and repeatable damage.
