card:Azor's Elocutors are cool....but they won't last long. I'd take them out completely. I like the combo with Ghostly Possession and Palisade Giant but since you're not running 4 of both, you may not see the combo hit at all. Geist of Saint Traft is great...however I enjoy the thought of combining him with Rootborn Defenses so that the angel token populates the second one stays in play. Also, I saw a cool combo with Moonsilver Spear on Geist of Saint Traft , which makes him even more awesome. I think you're running 3 land too many. I usually find my sweet spot at 23, because then I'm drawing too much land hands. And the LAST thing you want is to have 5 lands and 2 creatures, and keep drawing lands because of a bad shuffle. Trust me, I've seen it happen more than you would believe! The real problem with your deck right now is that you have some great creatures in, but the soonest you're going to be able to put someone in is turn three, assuming that fates align and you get the right mana combo (IE: at least 2 white for Fiend Hunter or 1 white 1 blue for Geist of Saint Traft )...If you're playing RDW, you're going to get overwhelmed FAST. Look to playing some Precinct Captain s or Elite Inquisitor s to help speed this up a bit. Palisade Giant plus Ghostly Possession is a GREAT combo, but think about when you're going to be able to play that combo. At EARLIEST, turn 7....i'd much rather, play an Angel of Serenity , exile my opponent's creatures, and have a strong flier on the board on turn 7. There are plenty of things to think about, and i love some of the combi ideas here, and the control aspect you got going on (I LOVE control) but against a decent Aggro deck, you will not survive.

MTGNoobs, thanks for the advice. I took the card:Azor's Elocutors out and bumped my mana down. I am going to keep the Ghostly Possession s in until I can get my hands on Precinct Captain s, Elite Inquisitor s or another Angel of Serenity . Rootborn Defenses are way too conditional for me to use, even more so than Ghostly Possession s.

you are right Rootborn Defenses works better when you play it in conjunction with geist, but ont forget that in the event that you don't have any tokens to populate....you still have the benefit that your creatures are indestructible that turn....but yes, i agree that they are conditional. Like i said, I love the combo you're running....turning Palisade Giant into an indestructible meatshield essentially....i just wish it was cheaper to cast. I'd suggest running Gilded Lotus but they're too slow too....

I just ordered 2 of these: Precinct Captain , Elite Inquisitor , Rest in Peace , Witchbane Orb , and 1 Jace, Architect of Thought and Detention Sphere . I was wondering if you had any advice as to what I should sub out for them. I was planning on putting the Elite Inquisitor s, Rest in Peace s, and Witchbane Orb s in the sideboard.

I like the deck, but do agree with MTGNoobs in that you need some lower cost creature cards to get an earlier start in a game. You are pretty much defenseless in the first couple of turns. I would say either Feeling of Dread or Silverblade Paladin would be a good sub for either Precinct Captain or Elite Inquisitor . Love the Palisade Giant combo with Ghostly Possession . And I agree with you on Rest in Peace and Witchbane Orb being in the sideboard. Looking at it overall, Elite Inquisitor would be better in the sideboard and Precinct Captain would be better in the deck for a first round match.

Thanks for the help chanslaf314. I am going to keep Silverblade Paladin because if I soulbond it with Precinct Captain , I get 2 tokens each time a deal damage to my opponent. But yeah, I think you're right, there's no point in keeping in Feeling of Dread if I am already making my deck faster.

I am going to LA thursday night, and if any of you guys go to All-Star Baseball Cards it's where I am going to FNM. It's where I got my first cards.

I'm on the other side of the country brother. But good luck. On a side note, I would take out Martial Law and double your Oblivion Ring , lose the Feeling of Dread s and add two Cyclonic Rift s...and look to see if you can add some card:Judge's Familiars....as a 1drop 1/1 flier with a neat little anti enchantment effect, I think you might enjoy it, and might help to speed this up. Try to bring your angel to at least 2.

also while not a requirement, it is reccommended that you bring your deck down to 60 cards

Your deck looks pretty solid and I dont see you loosing much at all at FNM

Thanks a ton for the compliment KrisLoom186.

Very good deck, should win a lot. Just be slightly aware that you don't have any board presence at the 1 and 2 mana slots. Not a problem most of the time but maybe a problem against some sort of RDW type thing.

Chubbub says... #13

ChiefBell thanks, I am waiting for my 2 Precinct Captain s to arrive, and in my sideboard I have 4 two mana cost creatures. But yeah, my deck is too slow against aggro.

ChiefBell says... #14

Yeh that'll solve it.

I really like it, but I would probably +1 Ethereal Armor and -1 Oblivion Ring and switch out Cyclonic Rift for Dramatic Rescue , since you can use it on yourself and save one of your creatures if need be.

Thanks for the suggestions Delequiox.

I am going to keep Cyclonic Rift in because they have been game enders in the past.

December 21, 2012 10:34 p.m.

I feel like Cyclonic Rift isn't going to do you much....maybe cut that and Ethereal Armor ...

December 23, 2012 10 a.m.

Chubbub says... #19

You are the second person to say I should cut Cyclonic Rift , so it's out. I am going to keep the Ethereal Armor s just because it's Geist of Saint Traft 's only protection.

December 23, 2012 10:02 a.m.

Yes, that is true... Now that I think about it you should cut down the number of Divine Deflection 's your running to 2 or 3.... 4 is too much..

December 23, 2012 10:05 a.m.

Chubbub says... #21

I am going to keep the full four Divine Deflection s in because this deck is kind of a damage prevention deck, but Sphere of Safety and Palisade Giant are 5 and 6 converted mana cost, so I really need the Divine Deflection s for early game. But I think I am going to cut 1 Sphere of Safety .

December 23, 2012 10:57 a.m.

ChiefBell says... #22

would Rootborn Defenses not sometimes be better than Divine Deflection

December 23, 2012 11:36 a.m.

Chubbub says... #23

That's true. I will add 2 and cut 2 Divine Deflection s. Thanks a bunch guys.

Would Spirit Mantle be of any help? Attaching it to Palisade Giant would make a good combo.

December 23, 2012 11:46 a.m.

Spirit Mantle is awesome, but it isn't in standard :(
