I love playing big green creatures, the only problem was they would either get countered, or I would die before I had enough mana to get them out. The solution? Splash some blue in there, control the game in the early stages while getting the land out that you need, play the big hydras, then make them unblockable and hit hard. Artful dodge is nice in case it gets countered, you can play it for the flashback cost. Courser is nice too for getting some land out and gain a bit of life you might lose in the early stages.
