The forests undergo Rampant Growth as Farhaven Elf goes out to Explore the wild lands. Grazing Gladehart provides a gentle welcoming before Pelakka Wurm , Verdant Force and Woodborn Behemoth crash through the trees. A Silklash Spider and Windstorm provide protection from threats above the canopy, while Terra Stomper and Worldspine Wurm crush any below. Finally, the jungle itself comes alive in a Rude Awakening.

General strategy:

This would be considered a ramp deck where you gather a ton mana and start laying down threats. Grazing Gladehart and Sporemound can stabilize until the big guys come out. Be more aggressive against white and blue as there are only two direct answers to flying creatures.

There are not many cards here against specific match ups as the deck itself is reliably strong. Terra Stomper makes sure you have at least one creature that cannot get countered and Acidic Slime stops a key artifact or enchantment.

About Beta Decks:

Beta Decks are a series of casual decks built to be played against each other by people who are new to Magic, have played a bit before, or just want to have fun at a kitchen table. It is not an "alpha deck" or one that has been Top 8 at FNM. All the decks are intended to be roughly balanced against one another. The term Beta also applies to the fact that these decks will be changed frequently.

I started by building themed decks for my girlfriend and I to play against each other when have some spare time. Now I'm hoping to provide an alternative to the Intro/Theme decks that WOTC is putting out. Please take a look and see if there are any improvements you would make to the deck. I'm always trying to balance them against one another so that there is a pretty even distribution of power.

Rules:

1. Work in a theme
2. No more than 3x play sets per deck
3. No complex cards (Warp World)
4. Budget decks: cost around $20
5. At least one artifact and one enchantment
