Golgari Aggro for Modern. Cheap $20 build (Probably much less if you're thrifty or have a few of the cards already).

Like many creature decks, this one wants to curve out with creatures in the first 4 turns. Turn 1: Prowler or Scarhide or Bloodsoaked Champion. 2. Putrid Leech or Scrapheap Scrounger. 3. Dreg Mangler or Mournwillow. 4. Surrak or Horde. Just turning things sideways and punishing stronger decks that stumbled in the early turns. Fight me bro...

But that's optimal. The 1 cmc spells (Prowler, Scarhide, Bloodsoaked Champion, Vendetta, and Slaughterhorn's Bloodrush ability) make squeezing multiple spells into early turns possible. Turn 2 vendetta plus a second 2/1 seems good. And a turn 3 Leech plus a 1 cmc also seems fine. Etc. So, playing off-curve creatures does give some ability to jam another spell into the turn.

Concerning Grafted Wargear, it will be a boat anchor sometimes, but it's free to equip, and makes any creature a nice threat. It's mainly included in the list for its synergy with the haste creatures. "Beep beep!" as Alex from LRR would say. :) It may also be better to play Wargear on turn 3 rather than a Mangler/Mournwillow if there is something beefy on the other side of the board. It's possible attacking with a 5/3 Prowler or 7/6 Leech is better than sending in an additional 3/3 with haste on turn 3.

The deck seems to top deck fine. Both 1cmc creatures have ways to utilize mana, by either enchanting a creature on board or transforming into a 4/4. These things probably won't be relevant, but it's nice to have ways to use more mana in later turns if needed. Same goes with Dreg Mangler's scavenge ability. In top-deck mode, even a Prowler ripped of the top can become a 7/7 with 'Reverse Menace' for 11 mana if we have nothing else going on, between using transform and scavenge. But that's not really what the deck wants, but it's cool it's there. Options are good. Hissing Quagmire is also a way to use our mana when we start running out of cards. And in a top deck war, ripping a Slaughterhorn off the top feels better than a pump spell when your board is empty.

Sideboard Choices: Brindleboar vs Burn or even faster aggro. Duress vs Combo or Creatureless strategies, as removal cards will be dead draws and a well timed duress may buy that extra turn you need to turn the team sideways. Deathmark vs Green/White, it just becomes premium removal in those matches. Manglehorn vs Artifact Decks. Let's face it, you're gonna lose to affinity, but Manglehorn may help if you're not already dead. It's also a nice way to fight against an Ensnaring Bridge or other troublesome artifacts. Tribute to Hunger vs Boggles/Hexproof, and it could even be an option against burn/aggro strategies that like to use creatures.

Deck is a work in progress. I enjoy Golgari and appreciate Budget Magic, so I thought I'd give it a go. See my Semi-budget upgrades below! Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed it.

As Kaladesh is now rotating out of standard, we will see many cards plummet in price, most notably ones that haven't found a home in upper tier enternal formats. The one we may consider for this deck is the Scrapheap Scrounger.

Being a 3/2 for 2 cmc puts it into contention with Terrain Elemental, which we play over other cards such as the 3/3 for GG due to ease of casting. SS is easier to cast for its 2 generic mana. Also, it has a nice recursion ability, which can send it back to the battlefield by exiling another creature in our graveyard. All this seems like a good trade off for the restriction of not being able to block, because if we are blocking with this deck we are probably losing. Though I do like the aesthetics of Terrain Elemental for the deck, but as SS can now be aquired for around .25 cents, I think it should be a serious consideration. It's just a good aggro card, and the ease of casting and recursion are welcome.
