RDW: Enchantment Removal?

Pioneer forum

I am wondering what pioneer has to offer for enchantment removal in .

These are the best I came up with but Im not exactly thrilled about them... anybody else have a suggestion?

Nine Lives combo decks with Solemnity... and I just hade no idea what to do...

But Ratchet Bomb has got it going on...

Joking aside, it's kinda hard to find something for that.

Argentum Masticore seems to have too high an MV. Introduction to Annihilation works, as well. Urn of Godfire or Universal Solvent are even more expensive.

Thanks a lot for digging for answers... at least now I know that there are other options at least...that Argentum Masticore seems very interesting... with running playsets of Skewer the Critics/Wizard's Lightning it could be a potential out for 3mv issues...I might be more practical to try to out race the combo though.... but if they get it online on curve by turn 4 then I guess they can just have the win lol

Thanks again!

Bonecrusher Giant (Stomp) will stop Nine Lives from preventing the damage in the first place.

You have now reached the stage every playing Mage goes through, which is to realise its biggest flaw.

The biggest positive is that is the best at smacking face.

There has to be a downside, to make up for that.

The downside is little to no Enchantment removal.

You've solved part of the puzzle, which is to look for Artifacts and Lands that will do the job.

Unfortunately, these are often too slow.

I actually think you should do what does best. Go really, REALLY fast.

Their Enchatnments can't impact you, if they are dead.

You can also just play another colour alongside but who really wants to do that?

Is there a specific enchantment you are worried about? You could find red cards that may negate the effect temporarily but red doesn't deal with them on their own. If you need to deal with them, I'd advise on splashing for green.

@Pabs4444 the specific combo that sparked my concern is Nine Lives with Solemnity.

So far its something that I have only seen on Arena but I haven't been to the "LGS" that supports Pioneer in awhile because its almost an hour drive away from me... more or less I am just afraid of driving an hour to be met with that combo going off by Turn 4 repeatedly and then driving back home another hour super salty lol.

I currently don't think its a "popular" deck people are playing in paper but I could be wrong... I'm willing to just take the "L" for an occasional bad matchup but if this combo or similar like Deification and Gideon of the Trials become rampant then I guess I will very reluctantly splash for .

Icbrgr Bonecrusher Giant using the adventure half (stomp) stops damage from being prevented which gets around the Nine Lives part of the combo

I would personally splash for White, rather than Green.

White has excellent Exile options.

It depends what format you are playing, though.

For Commander, Green is probably better, but for that you’d be better off playing Gruul anyway.

I never just resort to splash if someone asks about a colour. They may just want to play

Yeah for Pioneer I want to stay Mono-Red as long as Possible...I just love my RDW deck.

I have a pretty decent mana base to eventually go with having full playsets of Stomping Ground/Copperline Gorge to pickup access to Atarka's Command and Destructive Revelry.... but Modern has me Brainwashed into thinking that is the way to go for Boros Charm and Wear / Tear... but my mana base is far less convincing.

Filigree Sylex is another 'ratchet'. Really should consider splash G or W for chant removal and run 8-12 R/x lands to cover G/W while maintaining 100% R landbase. This also opens sb options as well.

The issue with Blast Zone/Ratchet Bomb/Filigree Sylex is they don't answer a Solemnity already in play. Bonecrusher actively progresses RDW while simultaneously being an answer
