Deck Help forum

Taking my tron deck because it's the deck I'm most comfortable with. But I'm wondering what I need to sideboard for what matchups my current list my mainboard is more resilient to twin than most lists I've seen
Femme_Fatale says... #3
This seems more of in the deck help forum.
Well, considering we had Monastery Mentor esper control win a tournament and appear in the top 8, I expect you should prep for that. The decks I think you'll might see are Burn, Boros Burn, Abzan midrange, Esper control, Twin and potentially Scapeshift. You may or may not see affinity, depends on whether it's the time for it or not.

appear in the top 8 twice, I think you should*
ugh. I'm tired. Laundry takes too long.

It's a question about the modetn meta I link my deck to forestall any requests for a list
March 9, 2015 7:57 a.m.
Can someone link that esper control deck. Can't find it. The last even, Baltimore, looked completely standard.

fluffybunnypants some of my best games have been vs twin, like when I hard cast ulamog with blood moon out and they tried to combo before I could untap forgetting I had skite out, or the game I resta twice just because I could and they couldn't stop me
March 9, 2015 8:38 a.m.
fluffybunnypants says... #10
Here you go.
You must know some terrible Twin players, Tron is basically a bye from Twin in my experience.
March 9, 2015 8:44 a.m.
It's pretty hard to just 'forget' spellskite is on board. I wouldn't bank on that happening... ever.
March 9, 2015 8:52 a.m.
tyforthevenom says... #12
They forgot coz it was sitting there not blocking not caring about what they did "it may aswell not have been there"
March 9, 2015 9:06 a.m.
ThisIsBullshit says... #14
One does not simply forget about a skite, regardless of how little it appears to be doing.

It didn't help that my board was cluttered friends m the number of times I'd delayed and played a permanent

This isn't a discussion about the meta. This is deck help.
Moved.
March 9, 2015 10:02 a.m.
tyforthevenom says... #21
Seeing as it's been moved May aswell ask for card suggestions (something I specifically avoided doing)
March 9, 2015 12:59 p.m.
Epochalyptik says... #22
Asking what to sideboard for a certain deck is asking for suggestions for that deck.
March 9, 2015 1:27 p.m.
tyforthevenom says... #23
I wasn't asking specifically for my deck I listed my deck and stated because if I didn't it would likely be requested.
What do you all think of Shrivel vs twin affinity and other aggressive creature decks
March 9, 2015 1:50 p.m.
Hjaltrohir says... #24
Femme_Fatale I seriously doubt that is going to become a big thing. It had two in the top 8 of a tournament, so what? Unless it sees a good amount more play, I wouldn't take up sideboard slots on it, it definitely isn't the 'deck to look out for'.
tyforthevenom Shrivel is ok, but you have Pyroclasm don't you? RG has access to Shatterstorm and Creeping Corrosion as well.
March 9, 2015 2:29 p.m.
Epochalyptik says... #25
I'm not here to argue it. Asking for sideboard recommendations is asking for deck help. It's that simple. The exception would be general archetype weaknesses and boards, but that exception doesn't apply because you linked your deck and mentioned its particular qualities.
The fact that your decklist is relevant should be a warning flag to you, in that respect. Additionally, the format forums have a "NO DECKLISTS" prohibition in their descriptions.
March 9, 2015 2:38 p.m.
tyforthevenom says... #26
Pyroclasm is reactive, shrivel is proactive, vs twin a sorcery speed reaction in hand is equal to saying "you win"
March 9, 2015 2:40 p.m.
fluffybunnypants says... #28
I've playtested it, it's really pretty damn good. Asia has always been a bit ahead of the tech curve.

notamardybum says... #29
just curious how your decks main is more resilient to twin?
March 9, 2015 3:16 p.m.
fluffybunnypants says... #30
It's not, just sounds like bad Twin players.
Also, I already threw the link up on the first page.
March 9, 2015 3:18 p.m.
Thanks to both of you guys anyway.
Meh. I haven't seen it any other time. rogue decks win sometimes. It happens. That's part of moderns charm for me.
March 9, 2015 3:28 p.m.
asasinater13 says... #32
is bloom titan anywhere on your radar? it feels like it could start showing up places.
March 9, 2015 4:08 p.m.
GlistenerAgent says... #33
So, prepare for Twin. 3+ Combusts are mandatory. They will probably still crush you, but it's nice to have blowouts on occasion. 4 Pyroclasm in the 75 is mandatory as well.
I'm not a fan of your maindeck creature suite. 3 Wurmcoils and an Emrakul should be the only ones, with the other slots being devoted to more sweepers and Relic of Progenitus. That way, the Relics can leave the board to become Combusts.
March 9, 2015 4:14 p.m.
tyforthevenom says... #34
titan is my "blood moon" for the deck and emperion hoses so many decks
March 9, 2015 5:28 p.m.
GlistenerAgent says... #35
You need velocity. Drawing Spellskites and such is alright, but the fact of the matter is you need to draw to your big threats as well as the mana to cast them. To do this, you need to be drawing cards. It's also really relevant that Relic is very good against lots of decks.
March 9, 2015 5:31 p.m.
GlistenerAgent says... #36
Also, keep in mind that adding those cards makes your deck even weaker than normal to Remand, making even your slow matchups harder.
March 9, 2015 5:34 p.m.
tyforthevenom says... #37
so what you're saying i want to be blue tron and not green red tron? in my my average opening hand is 2 lands a chromatic x 2 threats and anon, that's my average opening 7 with my list, also you say i NEED 4 pyroclasm but the fact of the matter is 3 mainboard pyroclasm is fine and Firespout is in the board for when they get something 3+ toughness (and i rarely have a reason to bring it in, not to mention i normally find myself having to board out pyroclasm)
March 9, 2015 5:35 p.m.
tyforthevenom says... #38
i always named Golem when i put down Cavern of Souls unless i'm holding multiple copies of Wurmcoil Engine or i want my Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre to stick (which i don't mind if it gets remanded a few times)
March 9, 2015 5:38 p.m.
GlistenerAgent says... #39
The thing is, those two lands might not be Tron lands. You need to assemble Tron as quickly as possible, because you will lose the game otherwise. When you play more big stuff that has been proven to be unnecessary, you lose the consistency afforded by the eggs.
March 9, 2015 5:39 p.m.
Femme_Fatale says... #40
U Tron is probably the form you should be going right now tbh. RG tron is just too weak in this meta. It's removal spells just don't hit the relevant stuff in the meta, which are all 4 toughness + creatures.
March 9, 2015 5:43 p.m.
tyforthevenom says... #41
my first priority is getting a green source to be able to Sylvan Scrying or Ancient Stirrings but atleast 60% of the time they're tron lands 8% of the time they're 1 tron land and a green source and about 3% of the time they're Ghost Quarter and Eye of Ugin, this is just an observation from my experience piloting the deck (which i can do while falling asleep)
March 9, 2015 5:44 p.m.
tyforthevenom says... #43
not sure if you're being condescending or if you're seriously giving me a compliment, feels like the former which is stupid considering i've had about 1 year's experience with the deck playing atleast 3 games a week even when i don't feel like playing tron
March 9, 2015 5:48 p.m.
GlistenerAgent says... #44
Playing Tron even when you don't feel like it? Wow.
March 9, 2015 5:53 p.m.
bijschjdbcd says... #45
Playing a deck isn't the only way to get good with it, A proper understanding of the metagame and deckbuilding are probably more important.
If your correct as usual.
a) Why post at all?b) Go to the PPTQ and get crushed by Twin because you can't reliably win this matchup and get crushed by aggro because you don't maindeck Pyro.
March 9, 2015 6:19 p.m.
CommanderOfBolas says... #46
no need to get rude, guys. that being said, you aren't going to be playing at an fnm, you are going to be at a pptq, which will have better players and better decks. I would sideboard cards against Twin, Affinity, Junk, and blue moon. other than that, you may want to consider some hate for b/w tokens and infect
March 9, 2015 6:19 p.m.
CanadianShinobi says... #47
I'm just going to concur with the advice already given. If you want to play at higher levels with a certain archetype then you would do well to adhere to the standard lists of that archetype. As it stands your current listed is not as consistent against other RG Tron decks are.
March 9, 2015 6:36 p.m.
tyforthevenom says... #48
bijschjdbcd i maindeck 3 pyroclasm. i've asked for advice for sideboard as i've found my mainboard to work very consistently, if you can link a list and show me how my mainboard could be better then do so instead of saying things i can't see what's going on in your mind you say "the other things" or similar things and ofc i'm going to say you're wrong coz i've no idea if you're right coz i've no idea what you mean. original list ran 2 sundering titans 4 Mishra's Bauble 0 Pyroclasm (see the PT BNG list of decks that got 8+ points)
and as for your card suggestions for my sideboard slots, only one i've seen is Combust no card suggestions other than that and no numbers on them nor reasoning why x card is better than y, i've said this to the majority of you before but i'm not a mind reader explain your statement don't blindly state it.
March 9, 2015 6:56 p.m.
GlistenerAgent says... #49
Do posts 12, 14, 15 and 18 on page 2 not count as explanations?
Have some decklists from the Pro Tour a few weeks ago, not the Pro Tour from more than a year ago. You can Control-F for Urza's Tower to find the Tron decks. You'll notice that one does play Sundering Titan, and all of them have some removal/hate/random stuff in the main, but all have Spellskite in the sideboard and no Platinum Emperion.
Don't play bad cards.
