The etiquette of Nevermore
Commander (EDH) forum

Would it be mean to use Nevermore (or similar cards like Meddling Mage or Runed Halo ) and name your opponent's commander? I know removal exists, but it could totally screw your opponent.
it is also not mean to Spin into Myth or Condemn the general lol, depends if you are in friendly games though, my mate starting running Thraximundar shortly after i made my Uril, the Miststalker deck so i kept having to sac my only creature which was a complete dick move so i add token generation lands to avoid such things but still in our friendly games that was very raged at lol

EDH is either comptetive or casual. Ive been a casual edh player forever. Recently getting into expensive EDH cards for crazy decks.

same here it is so much fun playing for a laugh with crazy decks. ive been playing 6 way multiplayer EDH games for a while now, crazy times. my cousing played Sewer Nemesis after he had milled us for like 20 each and we had been playing for a while so our graveyards were huge. i then drew into a Lord of Extinction so he had a 40/40 due to me using Horde of Notions so my graveyard was biggest then i dropped a 200/200 Lord of Extinction and was like OMG lol that is a joke. i also had Wonder , Anger and Brawn in the graveyard so it was literally swing once per person and I won lol. i also sacced it at one point with Miren, the Moaning Well and gained over 200 life. man that was fun! but harsh!

I run what is quite possibly the most aggravating EDH deck in my area. Gwafa Hazid, Profiteer as my general, and I spend the rest of the game locking them down and milling them.
We recently got into MMEDH games, and I have found that the secret to my success has been Mindcrank and Leonin Abunas , then just sit back, bribe everyone's big bads as they declare attacking me, and watch myself win the game.
If you're interested, check out the deck. deck:gwafas-lockdown-sauce

I regularly make good commanders disappear with Proteus Staff . Yeah, they get something else, but unless they have some good search cards they're not going to seeing their commander again that game (goodbye, Riku of Two Reflections , see you next game).

a Riku of Two Reflections deck without some green search creatures and Worldly Tutor is doing something a little wrong lol but on a serious note i think too much general hate makes playing EDH a little pointless as it is about having a general so be careful not to just be an idiot and ruin the game for everyone it is not all about winning thats for sure otherwise we would play standard not EDH

I think it's one of the most messed-up things you can do to Spin into Myth , Proteus Staff or Nevermore somebody's general. Not in a good way. It's not fun for them. Then they spend the rest of the game playing a large, unpredictable, unwieldy deck against a fine-tuned deck that's presumable working exactly as it's supposed to. What kind of an asshole would wanna do that? That defeats the ENTIRE purpose of EDH. It's not fun, and it's one-sided.

agreed i dont like doing it at all we started to take stuff like that out of our decks because it takes the whole point of the format away unless that player is lucky enough to play black with many tutors. happened to my Uril, the Miststalker deck once and it has like 6 creatures in all of which are enchantresses so that game sucked :-(

Yup, total bummer. On a side note, though, I wouldn't toss Runed Halo in there with the rest of them, I think it's perfectly reasonable.

yea true not quite as harsh and fun in a multiplayer

Actually, I play the Riku of Two Reflections deck. I occasionally make commanders disappear, but my normal use for Proteus Staff is "2UUR,T: add a random creature from your deck to your army." That being, Proteus Staff your own creature, and Riku the new one.

Not at all. Just like using a Pithing Needle when you can clearly see the only good thing about their general is their activated ability.
