Ideas on a Commander deck built around Sun Quan, Lord of Wu.

Casual commander deck.I have never built a commander myself before so would greatly appreciate any ideas on a deck based around Sun Quan, Lord of Wu .
This falls into the "not fun for anyone" (yourself included) category of casual magic. Like pulling off an infinite combo: satisfying to do once, super boring to keep playing in the same play group.

I agree to an extent, brcap, I don't plan to make the deck permanent, I'm using Sun Quan, Lord of Wu in another deck and a friend (who I play against) suggested I make a commander deck around him.

also use counterspells in case your opponent tries a board wipe or something like that.
Some suggestions:
Sword of War and Peace , Sword of Light and Shadow , Sword of Fire and Ice , Sword of Feast and Famine , Sword of Body and Mind .

Apparently I have a different definition of "fun" than other people do. As a unknown quantity yes infinite combos and "surprise" type of strategies are cheap and would get stale quickly. But I also feel that "fair" strategies get stale. I feel that in multiplayer games one person at least needs to run a bull shit win condition. The fun in paying with and against this type of deck is the pilot of the "unfair" deck is constantly trying to get his win condition to stick and their opponents are trying to neutralize the threat.
I feel that Sun Quan, Lord of Wu is a more fun commander than a lot of the "fair" ones. You have to wait until you have 6 mana to cast him. He doesn't natively protect himself so you are going to have to take some power away from strong creatures to protect him. Even after he is protected there are many ways to deal with him.

Sun Quan, Lord of Wu would be a lot less annoying than most things, but like anything it depends on what else is in the deck. I would personally avoid creatures that can one-shot someone like Blightsteel Colossus or building it as a counterspell deck (as opposed to just including a few) unless you intend to be playing competitively. Playing him as a blue voltron commander might be interesting.

Blightsteel is a must. Go for the kill. That is what this commander is for. Don't dumb him down. People will be running removal, so he will get his fair share of attention. If they do not run removal, then they need to learn to build a more balanced deck.

No body says don't run Consuming Aberration in a Phenax, God of Deception EDH deck.

Didgeridooda, the friends that you'll lose will if you also run Traumatize .
I would personally let my collosus hang out on the battlefield while I tell everybody that if they don't do exactly as I say, then I will kill them.

biggestmtgnerd That is a good plan. The person who complains about it first, boom dead.

All your creatures are unblockable with him so you need two things:
1/ Dudes that do stuff when they hit the opponent Ophidian and/or Wurmcoil Engine
2/ Protection for the lord Lightning Greaves Darksteel Plate
Equipment works great, I would run Shield of Kaldra , Sword of Kaldra and Helm of Kaldra for awesomeness's sake.
