Mono-Black Devotion with a splash of white for removal of enchantments and gods. It's also strong against planeswalkers with Heroes Downfall and mill if you swap in the Elixirs.

Friday Night Magic (Modern) — May 23, 2014

As I still had some cards that I need to acquire, the deck was run in a slightly modified form, which didn't help. Also the tournament was a modern format rather than standard. In any case, the deck ran 5 wins and 8 losses and didn't even break the top 10. Overall it was simply too slow to compete. I also noticed that the deck seemed to lack spell support. Other than Dark Favor, I wasn't really able to cast many spells. I ran into no gods, no planeswalkers and very few artifacts or enchantments so all of my removal was useless. Not a great start for the deck and I'm feeling pretty discouraged.
