tl;dr: Slows down oponent with counters, removals and no-draws, and attack him with lands or ulamog.

Objective: Play lands quickly, without taking too much damage, to be able to play Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger as soon as posible.

Mulligan: The deck can survive with too much lands in opening hand. Ideally three lands or more.

Strategy:

  • The main combo is the chaining in 2-3 turns (1 spell for turn) of Anchor to the Aether and/or Roil Spout and optionally finish with Mwonvuli Acid-Moss, Horribly Awry or other counter, for denying to oponent to draw new cards. Wait until the oponent cast a creature using almost all lands. When main combo isn't possible, if available, cast Mwonvuli Acid-Moss.

  • The deck has no creatues, so try to reserve Roil Spout and other awaken cards, for attacking when oponent has a weak defense (or killable with Plummet or Reprisal). Watch out with the oponent's untapped lands!!!. Generally, awake a forest, and attack for forcing to oponent to block with small creatures. With 7 o more lands, also attack with Lumbering Falls. Kill fliers with Plummet!!!.

  • Do not to consume all the lands, to be able to cast at least one counter. If finally counter is not necessary, play instant (Artificer's Epiphany or Telling Time) instead.

  • Use counters in this order: Horribly Awry -> Bone to Ash -> Spell Shrivel -> Scatter to the Winds. Bone to Ash allows draw another card and Spell Shrivel is not always effective if the opponent already has many lands. Do not use counters on creature spells with cost or less. If possible reserve Skyline Cascade for freezing them.

  • Planeswalkers are mainly to draw cards (Nissa), relaunch spells (Jace) and obtain lands (Kiora). With 5 or more cards in graveyard, use Jace for blocking (and then tap it).

  • Try to play one land of each type of mana soon. Play first the land type than less had been played.

  • Wait to play Artificer's Epiphany until have played Alchemist's Vial, sacrified Foundry of the Consuls or having an useless card to discard. Try to always have one land, counter and/or removal available.

  • Finally, When playing Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, exile first enchantments, artifacts, planeswalkers and lands. Do not exile creatures. Oponent will have to stop Ulamog's attacks with the remaining creatures.

Weaknesses:

Without the right cards, it will lose against fliers and mill decks.
