Paper Pauper Mono-Red Madness

One of my earlier Pauper decks, I finally got around to updating the description, as well as removing the "Prowess"-type cards to make room for Madness and discard-effects. And draw-power.

  • Ill-Mannered Nate is the main early game play. As a Menacing creature, he can get in some extra points of damage in the early game. Then, when he's no longer useful, he's still useful because you chump-n-sac with him for a free Madness-trigger and card draw.
  • Bloodlust Inciter and Maximize Velocity are both Haste-enablers, here to speed up the deck in two different ways. Bloodlust Inciter is capable of not only sitting around granting multiple creatures haste (over multiple turns, of course), but he can also be used a chump blocker whenever necessary. Maximize Velocity on the other hand can be discarded to something else in a pinch, and still remain useful due to Jump-Start--which in fact acts as yet another Madness-trigger.
  • Bloodmad Vampire is the deck's main threat... but only if you can get it going. At a Madness cost of though, it's cheap and effective.
  • As back-up beaters, we have Oxidda Golem as the fearsome Shoggoth, and Akroan Sergeant because I don't own any Reckless Wurm s yet. The Golem is a hasty little turd that just gets easier and easier to cast as the game goes on, while the other is an experimental slot until I get those wurms. Suggestions for alternatives are always welcome!
  • Since it's mono-red, we've got burn. It doesn't matter if it takes place in the Antarctic. Fiery Temper can hit your opponent's face, unlike the following burn cards, so I recommend taking advantage of this whenever possible.
  • Lightning Axe and Skred can only hit creatures, but they hit pretty good, so use them as removal.
  • Finally, make sure you draw enough cards to stay in the game with Faithless Looting (which has Flashback, remember), Cathartic Reunion and a bunch of Forgotten Cave s.
