Sideboard

Hello all! my name is cody and this is my deck that ill be taking to the local PPTQ on the 22nd. Its basically a mash up of the first place deck and the fourth place deck from the starcity games open held a week ago. every card is important so lets get into em.

CREATURES

Thraben inspector: this little buddy just keeps impressing me. makes a clue to count towards the artifact matters part of toolcraft exemplar, crews copter, and can block servos with ease.

Toolcraft exemplar: Turns big real fast. with 17 possible artifacts in the deck, this guy will be a 3/2 a lot of the time. the possibility of first strike is just icing on the cake.

scrapheap scrounger: part of the reason we are in mardu. a 3/2 for 2 that has cheap recursion and can crew an insane amount of times? sign me up!

selfless spirit: I think you run these in the main board just to give you that extra push in game one.

veteran motorist: theres a lot going on here for 2 mana. 3 power? check. vehicle synergy? check. added consistancy with scrying? check.

depala, pilot exemplar: one of two mana sink cards ( the other being needle spires) has overall great synergy with the deck and is never a dead card.

pia nalaar: this card I think is the unsung hero of the deck. she can eat useless artifacts ( including our recurring scrapheap) to get in that last little bit of damage, or gives firebreathing to our vehicles.

THE OTHER STUFF

smugglers copter: I mean...do I have to explain? a 4 of in 32 out of 32 decks. nuff said.

fleetwheel cruiser: great at running over the enemy and just applying a lot of pressure. the card doesnt feel to good from behind, but if youre behind with this deck youve already lost.

skysovereign, consul flagship: our late game beater. a bolt on cast and attack is easy to run away with the game. a very good piece to the deck

harnessed lightning: arguably some of the most flexible removal ive seen in a while. kill something for one now, kill something for 5 later. and so on and so forth. very nice interaction with itself.

unlicensed disintegration: the real reason I made the deck mardu. i mean. come on. instant speed kill a creature and then apply pressure with a bolt? ill place my bets on that. and you know itll deal three cause we have 17 artifacts, four of which have recursion.

sideboard talk

gideon, ally of zendikar: comes in vs control to really give the enemy a rough time. gideon runs away with games. especially with all eyes focused on instant speed copter removal and not planeswalker removal.

fragmentize: a flexible little thing that usually takes care of copters

Immolating glare: feels all around better than galvanic bombardment.

Skysovereign, consul flagship: just in case we need the extra late game push

anguished unmaking: side these in vs control. then proceed to laugh. laugh a lot.

selfless spirit: these mostly come in vs kozileks return and other sweepers.

transgress the mind: emrakul is not fun. big eldrazi are not fun. so we just take those cards and throw em right out of peoples hands for em.

if you enjoyed this deck and my explainations, please leave an upvote. im more than open to discussion aswell. always looking to improve the deck!
