OK everyone, I know that many of you have been wondering what happened to the community set. Well We met with out subteams, we had to design the final Mythic rares, and had to develop how we are sharing all of this. But all of that is over now. And now its is time for more help from the community. We are in the playtesting portion of the community set. In this article you will find set files to import these into your play or you can print and proxy.

So what exactly do we need fromt he playtesting?

Glad you asked, we are looking for feedback on how the cards play in varying formats as well as any editing issues that may need to be resolved. We need people to actually play and build decks with these cards and provide anecdotal feedback on how the cards did or di not play well and what could be done to fix it.

What do we not need?

Opinions about how cards are over/under powered with no play test justification. If you have no evidence for a statement it will be ignored.

We are playtesting in the following:

  1. Draft
  2. Sealed
  3. Standard
  4. Extended
  5. Modern
  6. Legacy
  7. Vintage
  8. EDH/Commander

All input that you have should be described in the comment lines below of this article. If you are supplying input related to the way in which the rules text is written please provide a card that indicates precedence.

Have fun guys. Also we are still accepting artwork and and edits to flavor text that are needed (submit these to [email protected]). Get the feedback flowing!

This article is a follow-up to Card Design Challenge (common lands) The next article in this series is Card Design Playtesting (Round 2)

That is a damn fine point. It was one of the last cards added. Call it 5/5 for now. Will be fixing soon

Jarrod_0067 says... #5

The following need a rules text update:

All common lands ('comes into play' --> 'enters the battlefield')

Blind Agression (replace the comma with a period)

Bloodcry of the Rieblahblah (change 'have' to 'gain')

Bloodhunt Piranhas ('*cardname can't attack unless unless defending player...')

Dasvol's Prayer Circle (is currently worded like a creature)

Direct Impact (reduced? prevented)

Dwarf Disenchanter (missing comma)

Dwarven Explorer (missing comma)

Dwarven Striker (till?)

Essence Flicker ('...*and all auras...')

Essence of Ulgris (the 'all' is not necessary)

Fetid Evolution (search 'your' library)

Fight for Survival (replace comma with period)

Flamebreath Drake (change 'no more than rr...' to 'you may activate this ability only twice each turn')

Flameweilder's Determination (I have no idea how wizards would word this one...)

Forced Sanctions (missing 'enters')

Gestating Blowfly (token is plural)

Gladeparter's Chant (change 'have' to 'gain', remove extra quotation mark)

Granketh Dur (punctuation matters. '...destroy target permanent you own. *cardname deals damage to that permanent's controller...')

Griffin Trapper (missing comma after 'attacks')

Hunger (should have the word 'gains' before both instances of trample)

Irindu Falls Huntmaster (pretty sure it is 'as though it had flash')

Journey to Revelation ('gets +2/+0 *and has Memento')

Jungle Sickness ('...loses flying and its power becomes 0')

Just Retribution (just realized you can pick instant or sorcery and have the card destroy nothing... Intentional? If not, change it to 'Choose a permanent. Destroy all permanents that share a card type with that permanent')

Lingering Pursuit ('You' should precede 'lose 5 life')

Needs of the Glade (wherever 'land' appears, follow it with 'card'. Also, change the period in the first selection to a comma and add the word 'then'. 'In' should also be 'into', and the 'into' at the end should be 'onto')

Phoenix-pedigreed Hawk (the card creator messed up)

Pulse of Maggots (*converted mana cost)

Shared Insight (then instead of than)

Shifter's Blessing (Are there two separate targets for that card? If so, the second part should be on a separate line. Otherwise, change it to 'you may switch that creature's power and toughness...')

Sorok's Call (*to its owners hand)

Unending Death (have should be gain)

Varthas (has should be gains)

Wicked Accomplice ('*gets +1/+0 and gains haste')

Zyanth'l (add shuffle to the first ability)

That's all I can see

GOOD JOB GUYS!!! FINALLY FINISHED :D

Also, I know that "Opinions about how cards are over/under powered with no play test justification. If you have no evidence for a statement it will be ignored.", but Life Cycle's Diciple looks insanely OP at common.

I mean, get a 2/2 recurring body and gain 8 life for a cmc of 4? That's like, a better card:Angel's Mercy and a better Sightless Ghoul in one card

August 2, 2012 2:23 p.m.

Valyn says... #7

I have not play tested any of this. But one thing I noticed is that there are only 4 Equipment cards however there are 6 other cards that rely on equipment to be used to their full potential. I understand that this wont just be played in block. However those 6 cards are almost unplayable especially in limited because only 1 of the Equipment cards are commons, and 2 are uncommon, and the last is a rare. While I like the flavor of Dwarves and Goblins using equipment if there are no equipment in the set the cards are a lot weaker.

I would suggest taking another look at these cards then:

Dwarven Smith

Olarin, Sunsight of Sorok

Dur Quartermaster

Goblin Workshop

Trinket Thief

Finuub Scavenger

Also Dissolution Blade needs to have its type changed from "Artifact - Gemstone" to "Artifact - Equipment Gemstone"

Very well observed. Clearly we do have to do something about that. We may have to ditch some and redesign for the end product to change the proportion there.

@ jarrod - will make those changes. They will not show up till the final product , but they will be made.

The designs are... some hits and a lot of misses, to be honest. However, for a community effort, it is quite impressive that you managed to put this together into an initial draft.

I'd like to go through the set and template it correctly, as well as make some suggestions, if the design team will allow me.

August 2, 2012 6:31 p.m.

squire1 says... #10

Templating can be emailed to me with fixes as jarrod did.

Not sure what suggestions means here, so since this phase is playtesting, I will refer to the article above. Suggestions not based in playtesting will be ignored.

August 2, 2012 9:17 p.m.

I will add my feedback from your profile page to this one for the benefit of others' review.

EDH/Commander feedback:

Radiant Elemental goes infinite with Deadeye Navigator.

Sources of Knowledge effectively says "I play infinite combos for the rest of the game." There aren't any combos that I can think of that involve Sources of Knowledge itself, but its potential to be a combo enabler is quite strong. Once you get set up to begin a combo, it essentially becomes a hard tutor in UR that finds all the possible combo-out cards. For example, UR has access to an easy mana combo in Palinchron and Deadeye Navigator . You can make one of the piles those two cards if you have a winning spell in hand or make it three cards with the third being your winning spell. If you already have infinite mana up, you can make one of the piles nothing but wins (I.e. Capsize , card:Blue Sun's Zenith, Fireball , Comet Storm , etc.)

Ulgris's Blightforce would see play in BUG lists.

Apart from that, many of these cards need text updates to be consistent with current MTG wording trends/patterns.

The wording for Bagan, the Lifeshaper's -X needs a little fixing. "Creatures you control X/X and gain all creature types until end of turn." Do they get +X/X or become X/X?

squire1 says... #14

Good call it is become x/x

August 3, 2012 8:55 a.m.

tehboss says... #15

Spellform Mutant is a little confusing. Should that be exile 'from your hand', or can this be a permanent from play or a card from any graveyard?

August 3, 2012 10:41 a.m.

exarkun809 says... #16

Priest of Purgatory in any mill deck is going to be ridiculous. Should probably be at least permanents "from the battlefield."

August 3, 2012 10:52 a.m.

squire1 says... #17

Is going to be and probably are not evidence based words. I don't think WOTC works on hunches so lets try to emulate that behavior.

@tehboss - I will look into that phasing.

August 3, 2012 11:04 a.m.

Virlym says... #18

@tehboss. I'm not sure if it was updated on the web page for the pictures, but there isn't a problem with what you exile. The second ability should have "until the end of the turn" or something. Otherwise, you can just counter something, then immediately remove the counters and you have free reign as to when you wish to play it. The first ability says to exile a target spell. Nothing is a spell if it is in your hand, library, graveyard, or on the field. You can only exile cards that are currently on the stack.

I mean, it is essentially quite flexible in what it can do. It's second ability can remove -1/-1 counters if it was blocked by something with infect or wither. It can remove time counters if it was suspended. Plus, it can remove age counters if it was given cumulative upkeep. On the reverse side, if something gives it fading or vanishing, it essentially makes the first ability useless as it will need to sacrifice itself to exile a spell. I'm not sure this was intentional, but that's how the wording is.

If it wasn't intentional, I'd probably change the first ability to say "only if Spellform Mutant has no +1/+1 counters on it." And to change the second ability to "Remove all +1/+1 from Spellform Mutant:"

August 3, 2012 11:42 a.m.

Virlym says... #19

Example of exiling a spell: Mindbreak Trap

August 3, 2012 11:45 a.m.

Virlym says... #20

I'm not sure if my thinking is correct on Priest of Purgatory, but it seems like in order to gain the 1 life, the replacement effect of the card must be done. So even if you have multiple Priests out, only one replacement effect will resolve, exiling the card and gaining you 1 life. Then the other abilities would be useless because the card can no longer be exiled (as it is already exiled). If there are multiple replacement effects out for one action, the last replacement effect to be put out will be the effect that takes place.

August 3, 2012 11:52 a.m.

Valyn says... #21

@exarkun809 Priest of Purgatory is actually not very good in mill decks. Because its ability triggers only when "Permanents" are put into the graveyard. Permanents are cards or token on the battlefield, specifically: creatures, enchantments, artifacts, land, tokens, and planeswalkers. Thus mill decks which put cards from a library into the graveyard do not get a benefit from this.

August 3, 2012 1:10 p.m.

exarkun809 says... #22

Yes, I apologize for my thoughtless criticism. It wasn't very constructive. I had assumed spells that are permanents were permanents even when not in play. My criticism wasn't nowhere near the realm of accurate. It was more a knee jerk reaction at what seemed to be a card I would admittedly love to play. Sorry!

And I think Virlym is correct as well in saying that having multiple copies of the Priest has no benefit.

hubatish says... #28

I tried out the set today, played a couple of Sealed matches. The format was really grindy and slow. REALLY SLOW. Most creatures have low power, high toughness, so no one had any incentive to attack. The games ended up going to whose bomb's were the most broken (some of these cards are way too good, and some are at the wrong rarities). There also needs to be more mana fixing, because you mostly want to be playing a 3 color deck. Now, I did write a whole ton of stuff, but then tappedout got on me about maximum post limit. You can read my original, somewhat lengthy post here: http://hubatish.blogspot.com/First off, Dasvols Prayer Circle and Arachnid Executor are way too good. With the circle out, your creatures NEVER EVER DIE. With the Executor out, your opponent WILL NEVER ATTACK AGAIN. That was from my first sealed match, where neither of us attacked at all cause of those two bombs.

Secondly, reduce the duplicates. There are 5 2 mana red burn spells, 3 4 mana griffins, and 2 2 mana drakes. Spread them across rarities and mana costs. Also, one the burn spells (or something) should hose regenerate, which is there is a lot of.

Pulling off a three color mana base in sealed is pretty tough. Theres already a lot of fixing (all the lands, and a few other cards), but the cards should basically have lower mana commitments. Ie, change cards with double symbols in their cost to a single symbol; ex: 3UU to 4U. Look at Shards of Alara, and you can see that most of the cards (especially at lower rarities) have low requirements (aside from multiple colors). At common, there are actually only 4 with double colors, and three of those have cycling.

Finally, there is an abundance of walls, regenerators, low power, high toughness, and wither, and generally not enough attacking. Sprawling Banyan (block 2 creatures, regenerate), and Swiftfoot Skink (hexproof, regenerate) at common are probably unnecessary. The red dwarves probably dont need higher toughness than power. It would also be nice if Cleave (and other evasion-esque things) stepped it up. Slow format also made the repeatable removal really, really good (as if it wasnt already).

squire1 says... #29

Great feedback. I suspected a few of these things but it is good to know that it is actually the case. Will start looking into these.

August 5, 2012 7:49 a.m.

squire1 says... #30

So changes that will show up in the second draft of the set.

  • Dasvols Prayer Circle and Arachnid Executor have been depowered a bit
  • costs have been adjusted to be easier to cast in multicolor decks
  • Equipment to equipment dependant cards ration is now 7:3
  • G'reil Tvoul, Chaven Tyrant is now a 5/5
  • wording changes as indicated by Jarrod_0067
  • Bagan, the Lifeshaper's last ability has been changed to "become X/X" as Virlym pointed out

This will be released around next week with the next round of playtesting. Keep the input coming. The duplication in costs issue addressed by hubatish is being looked at. That will be continuously addressed.

I'm not sure if this will help, but here are the cards that appealed to me when I looked through the editor file (the one where Arachnid Executor looks nucking futs power-wise). I will try to explain what I thought of them when I saw them and why I, as a viewer and Magic player, liked them and would get me interested in the set

CARDS THAT I LIKED ON FIRST IMPRESSION AND WHY

Forced Sanctions: Despite dodgy card text this is a really nice common enchantment, I think the drawback (the "Pay 3 Life" option) makes this balanced, escapable and gives an opponent a dilemma.

Jungletread Parasite: This is really creative stuff and very flavourful for a "parasite"; I can see this as an Intro Pack rare! The mechanic is hilarious! I do think though that it's low toughness is unfair on the opponent though, getting a mere 3/1 while you steal their biggest creature. How well balanced is it against it's cost? I can't figure it out.

Morglen Creeproot: This is just a really cool wall, Memento is really exciting next to regenerate! The three-colour mana cost makes me worry less about its power level.

Ritualistic Bowman: Simple, solid common. Simple as that. I can't be more help with that I'm afraid :(

Pathcutter Zombie: Another really cool card and a creative way to mana ramp; the name fits perfectly with the card! And I'm glad to see that it was assigned at rare.

River Raider: Really attractive card for REALLY silly deckbuilders like me! And it is very easy to read and follow. The text is also short enough to hold my attention span (unlike Symbiotic Mutation, for example)

Cranial Gorger: This is really attractive to anyone who likes combos. I'm unsure about its power level, but I'd love to build it into a combo deck! I suspect EDH would love this.

Spitvenom Widow and Guard Spider: As spiders go, these are very nice, elegant designs, and can offer up a lot of different ways to play them. Almost as cool as Deadly Recluse !

Swampwater Vine: I am not biased towards Ulgris cards! This is just a really nice combination of the three-colour mechanic! Although, it seems underpowered compared to Ambush Viper at first glance.

I hope that helps in some way. Think of it as "spoiler feedback". Mind you, I AM often attracted to commons and uncommons more than mythics.

pookypuppy6 says... #33

PPS: Memento's rules text is displayed on the set image as "When this creatures with memento dies, if they are not a token, put a token that is a copy of that creature onto the battlefield"

Errors are with the accidental pluralizations. It should read "When a creature with memento dies, if it is not a token, put a token that is a copy of that creature onto the battlefield".

The commons don't show much thought for limited. Recommended reading: Goblin Artisans. They talk a lot about commons and limited curves and set design stuff.

Most of the issues with the set are rarity problems. Recommended reading: The GDS 1 and 2. Many designers have issues with this.

August 5, 2012 6:40 p.m.

squire1 says... #36

I have read all their stuff.

The problem is not that one designer has an issue with this. We have cards created by dozens of if not a hundred people here and voted by more than that. We can only do so much to not change people's designs that win. The design team tried to leave people's designs alone and tell them to look at the rest of the set while designing.

I have designed several sets on my own and is is much easier to design a skeleton when you don't mind restricting designers.

August 5, 2012 6:45 p.m.

Cards I love in playtesting:

Angry Broodmother - Really good common. Timmy card all round, but Spike would love to play it too. I see it finding its way into a pod/reanimator deck

Avatar of War - Nuts card. I'd increase the cost by 1 colorless, but very favorable and fun

Blightforce's Suppression - Hello tokens, nice to meet you.

Bloodbladed Sandstalker - Gaining 4 life off this guy is pretty powerful. Trades with most cards at this rarity

Burial Priest - I can't believe a card like this has never been made before. It would be great to sideboard against and reanimator, and fits well into pod

Colossal Octopus - My favorite uncommon of the set. I love the flavor

Crazed Imp - Aggressive card, guaranteed 2 damage

Curse of the Marsh - In a pinch, this card serves it's purpose as the Naturalize of the set. Works well with the aforementioned Blightforce's Suppression

Doreer's Judgment - Crazy good. Would see play in Orzhov EDH

Dur Griffin Master - The Broodmate Dragon of the set, but with an extra body

Dwarven Smith - Love it. EDH loves it too

Elves of Anarchy - I invented it, so I gotta like it :P but seriously, it's amazingly good. The Noble Hierarch

Etheral Ooze - YAY. Fog Bank 2.0

Finuub Scavanger - Nice power, balanced card

Forced Sanctions - Yeah, okay. Oblivion Ring 's multicolor brother

Griffin Trapper - Limited bomb

Guard Spider - A 2 for 1 in limited

Hunger - A nice addition to W/G EDH

Irindu Falls Huntmaster - It's be hard to play out of block constructed, but there, it is a boss

Lesser Vigaan - A boss french vanilla Dragon. I'd see this as an intro pack rare

Null Hypothesis - Fun, draftable, powerful

Pathcutter Zombie - I loved Sakura-Tribe Elder . This is awesome

Radiant Elemental - Infinite combos, here it comes

Razer's Edge - Bringing back low cost LD spells since 2012

Riftwind Elemental - Wins games in limited

Soroks Call - Limited. Great

Sprawling Thoughts - Yeah, great card

Stormsurge - Infect likes this card

Swampmind - Love it so much. MILL IS BACK BABY!!!

Thoughts Forgotten - RE card above

Twilight Angel - Nice. Nuff said

Venifucian Flowmage - Get rid of the pay 2, and make it to only creatures OR to make it playable out of block constructed, make it whenever you draw a card and keep the pay 2

Viashino Sling-Raiders - Nothing says "pick me first" like consistent creature removal

Volcanic Terrain - Very powerful. RDW could play 3 of these for consistency. Imagine T1 Vexing Devil , T2 Stormblood Berserker , T3 kill all Lingering Souls tokens, mana dorks, and flipped Delver of Secrets  Flip

All the lands. Ever one of the lands are draftable, in fact, I often first picked them because they fixed mana so well

I hope this helps

Another question regarding the community set: What will happen when it is "released"? You mean it is going to be released onto this site? If so, I think that would be very popular!

Jarrod_0067, keep up the good work! The feedback seems pretty spot-on so far.

FLAVOUR TEXT ADJUSTMENTS. I went ahead and looked through flavour text for typos and confusing bits.

Rat Of The Fens: "Rats is a loose term...etc." Another erronous pluralization. It should merely be "Rat is a loose term"

Storm Seer: "I wonder what the weather will be like today." Needs question mark and also speech marks to indicate spoken dialogue.

Abrupt Mortification: "Pain takes but a moment when applied correctly...etc" Confusing. Needs to specify that the actual physical pain lasts briefly in a time sense, otherwise, "takes" could mean anything.

Asphirith's Bogborn: "...His most devout followers are those who brought back" Whp brought? Brought back what? I am unsure as to what is being implied here, unless "who" is meant to be "he"

Bloodhunt Piranhas: "There is noplace that is safe in Ulgris...etc" Needs a space between noplace.

Curse of the Marsh: "...only to be met by a giant wriggle mass...etc" Change wriggle to wriggling?

Dwarven Smith: "Drarves are always prepared...etc" Spelling error on Drarves there.

Merfolk Trooper: "They are noble folk who take no sides in the in the conflicts of the land dweller" Repeated "in the" there.

Moss-Foot Oak: "The trees walk in silence not judging, just trying to live their lives" The clause "not judging" needs to be prefixed with either a comma or a semi-colon

I haven't looked through them all yet, so I may post again. Advise me not to do so if this is unnecessary.

Volcanic Priest- the "sac a land" should be after the tap ability.

Unending Death- 'have memento'<'gain memento'

True Judgment- think Last Word with the wording.

Swampmind- 'repeats this process'

Suzaku- 'gains cleave'

Stormsurge- 'also gains trample'

Sprawling thoughts- make sure you reveal the lands!

Spellform mutant- 'exile target spell with cmc x'

Just going to skip Sources of Knowledge...

Sinking ambitions- '...ability. Put a -1/-1...'Sinkhole dweller- ...'you don't, sacrifice'Shrineheart- 'if damage would be dealt to'Shared forsight- too all players is redundant to reveal...

Shapeshifter's essence- It should be an 'enchant creature'?

Rejuvinating boon- the 'then' is ritorical

Reccuring curse- 'return recurring curse to its owner's hand as it'priest of purgatory- should either be just 'exile it' or 'would be put into'

Phoenix hawk- the ruls text goes after the entire ability. See River Boa

Palus lizard tail- 'when target creature dies'Out of rubble- the two lines should be one, and be connected by a", then"

Obliterating exposure- 'all permanents he or she controls'Needs of the glade- 'return target basic'

Mindvine revolt- 'are 2/2' (everlasting); '...graveyard." They are still lands'

Lingering pursuit- 'you lose 5'Just retribution- 'with the chosen'journey to revelation- 'return * to the battlefield attached to target creature token' ; also, the last 2 lines should be switched.Illusionary carapass- 'would deal damage'Hunger-' gains trample'Griffin trapper- needs a comma

Frenzied empath- 'gets +1/+0'

Gladepartner's chant- ' gain vigilance'Forced sanctions- 'enters the battlefield'

Also: storm seeker is missing p/t

Elves of the anarchy: combining Llanowar Elves , Noble Hierarch , and Saffi Eriksdotter . You choose the power level

Rush out a Sources of Knowledge by turn 3 with all the ramp creatures, putting one of each creature you want to reanimate, and all remaining copies of Thought Storm, Pathcutter Zombie and Rising Earth in one pile. Crack your Pathcutter Zombie (or fetch land in extended format) to trigger Sources of Knowledge. Whichever pile your opponent picks, at least one of each bomb will be in your graveyard. Then reanimate it with whatever you want; choices are a free Fetid Elvolution (if you need more green creatures, just sac your elves), and Ulgris Blightforce. Suzaku comes back on it's own and is boss at resisting most removal. Vigaan is just a bigger, shrouded Suzaku (and isn't legendary) so therefore, the #1 choice. Beat in and win the game in 5 turns

It would be really cool if you could find a publisher and try to print these, sell boxes for like 20-30 bucks a piece... so people can get the sets in hand ;p

I'm gonna take a look at these after work though! Great job on the comments so far!

Some suggestions for Irindu flavor text (one can only take so many Bagan quotes):

Fluttering Drake -When Irindu's skies turn ugly, Irindu's drakes take to the ground.

Tricky Wizardry - Even the con-man was surprised when the prize suddenly walked away.

Psychic Mongoose - "The mongoose is a great familiar, to be sure. I only wish I could give it a bath." -Wicasa, Venufician Flowmage

Shifter's Blessing - One moment, its skin's as tough as a turtle's shell. The next, its fists as hard as a hammer's blow.

And some more comments from my playtesting yesterday/how to make the format faster.

Right now, green is probably the strongest color in Limited, since the format is really slow, and it has the biggest creatures at common in Angry Broodmother, Irindu Pack Wurm, and Moss-Foot Oak. With Spitvenom Widow also at 5 mana, the green creature curve could really use some work. The Pack Wurm could maybe be a 4 mana 4/3 with conditional trample. The Swampwater Vine could also be a 2/2 for 3, with conditional flash & deathtouch. Then, if it does have deathtouch, it might get to attack for some real damage rather than hanging back. Also, Hunger (+1/+1 and trample, or +3 if token) & Tharin'l Pack Rider could be common very easily (if that's desired). A 2 mana 2/2 might be really good for green at common, helping it be more aggressive.

In red, Viashino Sling-Raiders is probably appropriately balanced. It can certainly kill some things, but the damage to your face is pretty relevant (I died to it once :). Red might just need an extra creature or 2 instead of a burn spell.

Also, Razer's Edge is particularly brutal in this set. First turn (in Sealed) my opponent played Sparkling Valley, second turn I cast Razer's Edge blowing it up. He then had G'riel Tvoul stuck in his hand the rest of the game, since I killed one of his 2 red splashes in his Black White deck. Such highly efficient land destruction (almost as good as Sinkhole!) probably does not belong in this multicolor set, or at least not at common. I had like 3 of the things in my pool. Even in block it will likely be highly discouraging to the multicolor decks.

Cards i think need a re-work:

Arachnid Executioner - needs a nerf

Dwarven Bull Rusher - needs a buff

Gestating Blowfly - should have flying imo

Jungle Sickness - new name possibly?

Life Cycle's Diciple - needs a small nerf

Pack Wurm - P/T and cmc all reduced by 1

Razer's Edge - great design but slightly too powerful

Swampwater Vine - not sure about this one

Venifucian Flowmage - feels common and really over-complicates things

Other things of note:

There are 3 griffins with cmc of 4 at the common rarity. Too many methinks

I also think we need a 1/1 for 1 in red, maybe re-print Raging Goblin . Everything seems so costly

Made an account so I could contribute. I tested with hubatish, and I have some more points.

Land destruction seems really out of place, I don't mind it as a strategy, but in a limited environment where you seem to be encouraged to play three colours, it is really brutal. The two cost land destruction spell should probably be an uncommon in this set, though in a less colourful block common would be fine.

For the Magic Workstation file, it seems that the rarity is not working for mythics, so they appeared as commons. Also, tokens were in my sealed pool and counted as cards.

I don't know all of the cards that are in the same cycle as Flow of Irindu and Lifeforce of Morglen, but the Lifeforce is crazy in limited (memento should stack right?), while the flow in incredibly weak in limited. It does allow you to gain a good bit of card advantage over time, but with the mana requirements you will be lucky to flow twice. I dunno how this speaks for the rest of the cycle.

The prayer circle does not need regenerate, and if it is decided to keep it, the price needs to be jumped to either 2W or 3W.

Morglen creeproot is unexciting for a tri-colour card. Memento and regen are very redundant. It is also super weak, drudge skeletons is much better than this, it can attack when needed, and has a very easy manacost. Swiftfoot skink, which is a common, is much better.

Impartial Forest Dweller is not bad at three mana, since mana fixing is important, but at two mana it is much more exciting while still not insane.

The 3/2 flying firstrike it very powerful as it seems most flyers have two or less toughness.

If Punish the bold said, destroy target attacking creature, it would function the exact same way.

Sunthorn Ravanger would make more sense in Sorok colours, since it benefits from all those minuses that don't work with resolve.

Pack Rider should be a common, otherwise they will be way to hard to pick up.

Never had any counters to turn on bloodskeer bats. Dunno if this was because of my pools.

The 5/5 death tough vigilance seems a little weak, his ability is cool, but irrelevant 95% of the time.

That is all that I can think of for now that hubatish has not already covered.

@m2ert. Good feedback methinks. I agree about the land destruction looking at a tri-colour set, which is a bugger as I connected with it as part of the Chavest shard's identity.

I disagree over Morglen Creeproot though. It's not Drudge Skeletons sure, but I don't think Memento and regenerate on a card should be given up on as redundant. I think should either be removed as a card or given it a toughness boost for its three colours if it is struggling as an uncommon (We should remember that they are enough walls and high-toughness creatures as it is in the format, as hubatish has previously mentioned.)

MORE FLAVOUR TEXT ADJUSTMENTS

Creeping Ichor: "with its denizen eating each other" Pluralize denizen to denizens

Gestating Blowfly: "A swat in Ulgris can make your life twice as complicated" A swat? You mean the action of swatting? Or a fly swatter? Both of those things are helpful in an insect-infested primordial pit like Ulgris. Clarification/rewriting needed.

Obscuring Mist: "The Naissae flows even through the air here, if you learn to control it, the benefits...etc." Change the first comma to a semi-colon.

Steamcore Weird: "We know not why our creator did some of the things he did, perhaps he was still..." Would read easier if divided into two sentences.

Wartime Mount; "In time of war..." Would read better as "In times of war..."

On a more positive note, Swampmind's flavour text is great, something about it makes it verge on black humour :D

Also, I notice there are a few "Artifact-Gemstone" cards in the set, such as Dissolution Blade, but I don't see any cards in the set at the moment that pay that supertype off. If there ARE no cards that are nothing in the set is affected by the supertype, and it doesn't affect the Gemstone card itself as far as I'm aware. Is that for a future set?

It was something some community members wanted to try to work into the set. Unfortunately there was not much design space for it. This is an issue that is being dealt with by the design team currently.

We have been going through all of your feedback as well as our own playtesting and the second draft (likely up next week) will be pretty different. Flavor, rarity, card names, costs, power levels are all being changed from people's feedback. Keep it up guys and gals.

Is there a card called spectral procession?

Spectral Procession IS a card... but none I can see in this set. What is listed as 8 CMC again?

Mind you, in my last comment I referred to the set's own Steamvent Weird as Steamcore Weird . Possible name change? There are so many other naming possibilities for weirds!

Is there any way to get the cards to print 6 or 9 to a page? I don't mind wasting ink, but the time it takes to print 230+ individual pages, really sucks. Workstation demo version won't let me import the entire card set. Maybe if someone can print 1 set of the cards with multiple cards per page to a pdf and post it, that would be cool too.
