Rootha, Mercurial Artist

Melek, Izzet Paragon

Not sure if copying spells appeals to you but still i think worth looking into.

Rootha, Mercurial Artist for more spell copying shenanigans. +1

I would like to point out Rootha, Mercurial Artist as yet another way to copy your spells. I use her next to Anhelo, the Painter and she ends up being a juge power house for me.

Disappearing Act gives you reliable evasion - even if the spell fails because Krark is on the field, the cost of the cast allows you to bounce a permanent to the safety of your hand.

Also, Reliquary Tower, so you don't get forced to discard down if you keep bouncing spells to hand.

Deekah, Fractal Theorist can grant you some token swarm, especially if you copy them with Sakashima.

You should really find room for God-Eternal Kefnet if you can, because their wording specifies you cast the copy. It's also a may effect, so it doesn't give away your draw unless you decide to cast it.

Very high CMC, but another fun target for Sakashima in this deck might be Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant.

Less-high CMC, a fun combo with Krark is Melek, Izzet Paragon. Even if you fail the coin flip when you cast a spell from the top of your library, you still get to 'draw' the card! Also potential Sakashima shenanigans.

Rootha, Mercurial Artist can help make casts a bit more reliable - if you're willing to bounce them to hand, you can copy a cast spell before Krark potentially bounces it back to hand.

Few things to look at:
-Thermo-Alchemist is worth dropping, doesn't actually benefit from Veyran. Consider adding Kessig Flamebreather in its place.
-You have a lot of effects that double spells (Dualcaster Mage, Naru Meha, Master Wizard, Rootha, Mercurial Artist). It is worth considering that copying a spell is not technically casting it so you don't benefit from effects like Guttersnipe off a copied spell.
-Archmage Emeritus. Enough said.
-Lier, Disciple of the Drowned is pretty solid
-You have a lot of expensive/delve spells that might end up being slower or more damaging than expected. Exiling your spells from the yard invalidates cards like Past in Flames and Crackling Drake, which is counterintuitive. Cards like Apex of Power, Clone Legion, and Spelltwine are fun, but better served in a Mizzix of the Izmagnus deck (another card worth considering!)
-Theres a lot of solid enchantments/artifacts that benefit from Veyran. Metallurgic Summonings, Aetherflux Reservoir, Aria of Flame, Sorcerer Class, etc.

Milana, Prelate of Tithes

Legendary Creature - Vampire Advisor (Uncommon)

Whenever an opponent sacrifices a permanent, that player loses 1 life and you gain 1 life.

I'd like to see a signpost uncommon legendary creature. In this set, if this were a signpost uncommon, would be about having your opponents sacrifice things, and this would create be a decent pay off for it.

Signpost uncommons provide a payoff, or are an enabler for a (two-color) limited archetype.

Strixhaven did it with Dina, Soul Steeper, Killian, Ink Duelist, Quintorius, Field Historian, Rootha, Mercurial Artist, and Zimone, Quandrix Prodigy, for reference.

Cas_Forelda on Rootha, Mercurial Artist Question.

Hello this is my first thread on this forum so do go easy on me. :p

I have 5 cards in question, 3 supporting, 1 activated card being Rootha, and one instant being Opt in this case.

Pili-Pala, Grand Architect, Leyline of Anticipation, Rootha, Mercurial Artist, Opt

Those cards are the ones being used in this scenario. Everything but Opt is on the field already, and I play Opt. In response I activate the ability of Rootha, Mercurial Artist targeting Opt. Rootha, Mercurial Artist resolves creating a copy of Opt. Before Opt resolves I cast Rootha, Mercurial Artist as Leyline of Anticipation gives it Flash. Rootha, Mercurial Artist ETB's and before the copy of Opt resolves I again use the ability of Rootha, Mercurial Artist, creating another (2nd copy, 3rd total) Opt.

At this point I let one Opt resolve to draw a card, or scry 1 to the bottom of my library. Creating as many copies as needed to draw out my deck, leaving only land (mill protection)

With my deck in hand I can play any card I want with the infinite mana produced by Pili-Pala and Grand Architect. With the copy ability I can play any instant or sorcery as many times as I like.

The question is, Am I making a mistake anywhere?

Dina, Lifecycle Mother

Legendary Creature - Dryad Druid

Lifelink, Wither

Whenever a basic land enters the battlefield under your control, you may have it enter tapped. If you do, create a Herb token.

Dina, Lifecycle Mother gets +1/+1 for each Herb you control.

The same flower that can revive a deer can also fell a nation. Knowing how to use it isn't the trick, it's when.

So, unless I am remembering wrong, Strixhaven was a college for Planeswalkers. The Deans or someone there would find beings whose sparks have not-yet ignited and would bring them and admit them into Strixhaven.

If that is true, take one if the five college students we got and if ignite their sparks. Those cards are, for reference:
