Red Black Land Destruction

Modern Deck Help forum

I have been looking to build a RB land destruction for a while now. I have a mono red land destruction/burn that runs well....sometimes. I want to blow away my competitions land to starve them from the mana that they need. I am looking for any combos or tricks that I have missed. This is more of a fun deck for me but I am willing to throw a few bucks at it. My play group plays mostly EDH but I am trying to convince some of them to build up some decks for when they get tired of me winning with my Arcum Dagsson: A Love Story deck. Thats not true I don't win all the time we allow a Braids deck, I hate it. Anyways, I will post my prototype later today so it can be picked apart as well. Thank you in advance!

Might I turn your attention to Goblin Dark-Dwellers and Boom/Bust? The way Dark Dwellers works makes it able to cast the Bust side of the card. That's pretty neato. Oh, and you can use Boom on your fetch and target an opponents non-fetch. Then, crack your fetch in response to the spell. You're left with 3 lands and your opponent has 1.

If you do go with this route, I have to recommend adding green for 1 mana dorks.

And I'd add cards that bounce permanents. If you cast Boom/Bust then bounce your lands you'll just destroy your opponents lands

Tagging DrFunk27 for his knowledge of GR Ponza (land destruction).

I have a Green/Red ponza primer if you would like to see it, here. B/R ponza would be quite similar, but replacing the acid-moss and most of the fatties with some mix of Wrecking Ball, perhaps Grave Titan, and more removal. The disadvantage that black has is that you will never be T2 Blood Mooning or Stone Raining (at least, without the help of Simian Spirit Guide). There is a black version of Spreading Seas, however (minus the card draw), can't remember its name currently.

There's Evil Presence and the more sadistic Contaminated Ground.

Here is what I have going as of right now: RED BLACK DESTRUCTION. See my comments on the deck. Terminate and Wrecking Ball have been ideas to look at for me. Thanks again everyone.

I'm confused, are you not going for a modern legal version?

Yes I am going for a modern legal version. The deck I have posted is not legal as of right now.

Braids is banned in EDH, if I remember correctly Burg+1.

Bovine073 Yes she is and for damn good reason. As stated above my play group allows banned cards and we still play for ante. Keeps all of the decks up to snuff and makes for some really dramatic games. My Arcum Dagsson list on here has a Tinker which is banned but I run it when I am with them but pull it out for a Reshape when I play at the shop.

Anyhoo. I have done some rethinking on this deck and I think that I will make it a Legacy deck for now. I think it will be a clunky deck but fun nonetheless. I will be updating this evening and changing the tag to Legacy. Thank you all for your knowledge and advice. Moving forward I think I will run G/B or a G/R ponza.
