Hullo! Today I am presenting a weird (quite literally) combo deck based around Blistercoil Weird and Paradise Mantle, with plenty of cantrips in between.
The General Sequence
Turn 1: Land, Blistercoil WeirdTurn 2: Paradise Mantle, attach to Blistercoil Weird
An Interruption from the Author:
Now, before we move on, I'd like to state this. You can go off turn two, and here is how it happens. After equipping Paradise Mantle to Blistercoil Weird, tap Blistercoil for usually [U] and play a cantrip. The cantrip triggers Blistercoil's ability, and he untaps and get's +1/+1. Now, you should have a few more cantrips in your hand. Go ahead and repeat the process, and theoretically you should be able to swing for lethal OR kill your opponent using Grapeshot.
"But Grapeshot is a two-drop!" You might have just exclaimed. Well, dear reader, that is where Cerulean Wisps comes in. You see, it has a very interesting interaction with Blistercoil that allows you to get double mana. How? Well, you tap Blistercoil for Cerulean Wisps, then put the triggers on the stack so that Blistercoil untaps from its ability, tap it for mana, then untap it from Cerulean Wisps effect, and tap Weird again, resulting in double mana. Beautifully evil.
Anyways, if you're not able to go off turn two, it isn't too difficult to do the exact same thing turn three or four. Since we're only running 12 lands, mulligans will be common.
Your starting hand will usually want to look like this:Blistercoil Weird, Paradise Mantle, any land, Grapeshot, (This varies) and the rest of the cards are cantrips.
In the event you mull to five and are still missing valuable combo pieces, fear not, as you should be able to draw them out relatively quickly.
That's all for today, take care!
