Some playtesting vs. my other decks —May 7, 2012

After enough tries I finally got the playtester to load and tried out matchups vs. some of my other Standard decks...

vs. RG Werewolves 0-2

This matchup didn't go so well. The first game the wolves ran all over this deck before things could get going. Next game went a little more smoothly but turned into a stalemate. Garruk's ultimate finished the job.

vs. GW Aggro/Ramp 2-1

Game 1 my big stompy deck was on its game (removing threats, dropping big stompy creatures, etc.). Next game went to Mirran Crusader and Angelic Destiny. In the tiebreaker I recover from a bad mana draw to drop 2 Thraben Doomsayer on the board with fateful hour. Things got ugly from there.

vs. UB Infect 2-0

Turns out this deck was a nightmare for my U/B Delver-Infect deck. The threats came out too quickly to counter and no mass removal left Delver in the dust.

Thanks! :) I was hoping to add more to it but ran out of ideas. So far it seems like a fun deck. I'm thinking I might drop one or two of the 3cc cards for extra lands so I'm not struggling to cast later on.

With all the life gain I've been trying to think of a way to activate fateful hour while keeping with the theme. GriselbrandMTG Card: Griselbrand would be fun but I don't want to deck myself trying to get to 5 life. Any suggestions?

Decided Killing WaveMTG Card: Killing Wave would be perfect for activating fateful hour. Still open to tweaking it a little more.

Hex ParasiteMTG Card: Hex Parasite will get you to fateful hour on demand. (just keep paying the phyrexian mana till you are at 4/5 to remove 0 counters.)

This is true, the thought of playing Killing WaveMTG Card: Killing Wave and purposely paying the life while watching an opponent sac everything just feels dirty.

I'll probably be updating for the core set cycle and including a little more creature token production for the tapping. wants an army to play with.

Looks good, I like decks that can use . I would suggest you add 2 more Revoke ExistenceMTG Card: Revoke Existence to the side board(primarily for those Heartless SummoningMTG Card: Heartless Summoning decks with their Wurmcoil EngineMTG Card: Wurmcoil Engines)and 3x Celestial PurgeMTG Card: Celestial Purge would be helpful as well. Good deck though +1.

Thanks! I've been looking for some good sideboard ideas. Think some instant life gain in case I do the Killing WaveMTG Card: Killing Wave down to fateful hour combo against a burn deck would be helpful?

Probably. I've been having issues with the playtester, but it looks like I might have issues now and then triggering morbid.

Hands down the best deck/description I have ever seen. This deserves a medal. And now you win a Pro-Tour with this deck.
