for someone who is waiting for modern masters 2015 to come out hoping for a Goblin Guide reprint, what card should I play instead as I sit here and hope? Suggestions?

Nixytbird I would suggest something like Vexing Devil in substitution for Goblin Guide. Although he is not ideal, he is still very good in Burn Variants.

Great deck! + 1 from me.Only thing I can say is that I feel like 13 fetches is a bit too many, but if it works it works!

Instead of a Leyline of Sanctity, run Kor Firewalker and possibly a Soulfire Grand Master, if you want to live on the edge.

No point losing a Leyline to other burn decks when Firewalker is just better.

JexInfinite. Although I do appreciate your comment, I have to respectfully disagree... Kor Firewalker is very good, yes, but the compared to Leyline of Sanctity there just isn't any competition. Leyline absolutely hoses other burn decks, where as kor only slows them down. I have played many burn mirror matches and won because even though my opponent had a Kor Firewalker on the field, I had a leyline and they could not touch me. Similarly, Soulfire Grand Master seems good at first, but 90% of the time it is just a 2/2 that does nothing the turn it is played and is usually killed before my next turn.

When it comes down to it, if you can win with either, play either.

Leyline of Sanctity is not even half as good as Kor Firewalker in the burn mirror.

Leyline will be removed right away, and can't be a beatdown.

Kor Firewalker is infinitely better. No competition.

Not 4 Atarka's Command? By looking at the card, it's best mode is not the Skullcrack mode, but the three damage +1/+1 reach mode. I think that's likely to constitute more than 4 damage for two mana, which has been the top end for burn spells lately.

Run the full 4 Atarka's Command. Add another Stomping Ground to your manabase. 19 land is not going to cut it with Lavamancer.

First off your deck name makes me think of a BBQ sauce that I would smother ribs in

secondly, I'm failing to see how Eidolon of the Great Revel helps you. it is a anti burn enchantment. it's only going to damage you. unless you going to run Stuffy Doll, which would be a fun synergy, since your average CMC is 1.63 and 3 is the top of your mana curve.

drakendark, Eidolon of the Great Revel is one of the cards that was recently printed that makes burn a top tier deck. It is run as a 4 of in pretty much every tier 1 competitive burn deck. If you don't believe me, read some of the deck lists on mtgtop8 or mtgsalvation. The concept behind it is that almost every card in the modern meta has a converted mana cost of less than or equal to 3 with the exception of Cryptic Command, Siege Rhino, Primeval Titan, Splinter Twin, and Scapeshift. Other than those 5 cards, there are almost no other cards that are played that cost more than 3. This means that my opponent is burning themselves at the sametime I'm burning them. The goal of burn is to make sure your opponent has less life than you, preferably 0. It does not matter as much if I'm taking damage because as long as my opponent has less life than me I am winning.

That makes sense, Just comes off as counter-intuitive at first. I don't play competitive, hell lately I don't even have time to play, I just fiddle and create decks on tapped out.

I forgot to include Pariah in my previous comment, Stuffy Doll alone doesn't combo with Eidolon of the Great Revel. But I imagine in a competitive setting, Stuffy doll is too slow.

drakendark, yeah, Stuffy Doll is pretty slow from a competitive standpoint, although the combo sounds fun for casual play.

I run a very similar burn list that has also gone through a great many iterations. Seeing as you are now quite proficient with this deck, and I'm returning to Magic after a long hiatus, I have a question for you. Does Destructive Revelry wind up being better than Smash to Smithereens in most situations? I only ask this because while I realize that it also hits enchantments, I would think that most of the time, you aren't really going to be blowing up enchantments anyway, and that the extra point of damage for Smash could wind up being extremely relevant.

I'm sure Destructive Revelry at least gives you a chance against Hexproof (especially with the non-targeting damage of Atarka's Command), but I would think that matchup would still go poorly for burn most of the time, and that adding Revelry specifically to beat Leyline of Sanctity and Affinity isn't as good as just having more Smash to Smithereens, but perhaps I'm missing something.

Mishalex The reason most Burn players run Destructive Revelry is because of it's flexibility. Yes, most of the time you will be using it to destroy artifacts but having the ability to destroy enchantments in an emergency is incredibly useful. There are many times I've had to Destructive Revelry a Splinter Twin or a Spreading Seas because I didn't have any other answers in hand. In each of those situations, having the ability to destroy enchantments has not only kept me from dying, but also allowed me to win in one or two more turns. The extra 2 damage is just icing on the cake as well.

Mishalex You need to have Destructive Revelry, not just because of flexibility and Consistancy, but because of Leyline of Sanctity, which you will face rather often.

Thank you all for clarifying that point for me. I'll definitely be returning to the Destructive Revelry plan, in that case.
