The main goal of this deck is to disrupt/ control the game in order to play (Ideally by turn 5) a Rune-scared demon, thus setting of a chain of 6/6 Demons.I mainly play against extremely aggressive decks, some of which, if not checked can end the game by turn three or four. This usually is able to cause enough disruption by turn two to considerably slow everything down, however, although usually it does well, sometimes my draw causes me to move a little too slow. Inquisition of Kozilek, with surgical extraction on turn one is extremely powerful at getting rid of what I need to as well as thinning out others decks, and in the case of aggressive decks, ideally making my opponent top deck land much more frequently, and hopefully delaying the game, and breaking up combos. Elixer of immortality usually lets me get any creatures back into my deck, and against heavy removal keeping a demon in hand allows me to keep continuing a chain. Haunted fengraf is a last resort, although luckily, no matter what creature I randomly get back its a good thing. I use a lot of sack creature cards as opposed to targeted solely for the other issue I was having with geist of saint traft, and dungrove elder, however, Sorin's Thirst is in the sideboard, as against a great deal of red decks I play, it is better, although otherwise not particularly good.
This is the first deck I am trying to make modern, and I am trying to make this deck more efficient overall, however, there are somethings I have experimented with that have not worked; specifically I seem to have a problem with a large number of creatures in my deck, top decking them or drawing too many are death with this deck; I want to tutor for them when I need them outside of the first rune-scared-demon.Also cards that include to much life loss, unfortunately tend to hurt me too much, thus dismember seems to be useless for this deck. I have tried bloodgift demon, however, although the loss of life he causes is not too high normally, he himself is too slow. Griselbrand tends to work much better, provided I use quicksilver amulet. I was thinking of replacing Reaper of the abyss with Phyrexian Obliterator, since he's cheap to play and may negate to some extent the danger of drawing too many high cost demons.
Anyways; I am looking for ways to make this better in modern, and I know there are definitely a lot of cards I am probably completely overlooking, so all suggestions are welcome.
