Never Heard of Hieromancy? Allow Me to Educate...

Commander / EDH*

SAASYPANTS

If you actually haven't heard of Hieromancy before, allow me to educate. puts on a pair of fake glasses and a zip-on tie Hieromancy (in MTG) is a predominantly white based defensive arcane tradition that focuses on two main pillars: The Pillar of Banishment (exile), and Pillar of Capture (detain/tap down). In the Wizards of the Coast description of the planeswalker Gideon Jura, it is mentioned that he is a practitioner of Hieromancy himself, and the page describes Hieromancy as the magic of holy justice. The commander of this deck, Hixus, Prison Warden , is specifically mentioned in Gideon's origin story as a very powerful Hieromancer, and is Gideon'a own teacher of the art. He describes the magic as commonly called "Law Magic", and he proceeds to demonstrate both pillars of the magic to their extremes: He demonstrates the Pillar of Capture by keeping Gideon, then Kytheon, pinned in place by magical chains, as shown on the card Suppression Bonds . He demonstrates the Pillar of Banishment when he blasts many harpies out of the air as they assault the walls of Akros. This deck also incorporates a third theme: lifegain and damage prevention to increase the durability of both my creatures and myself. Some Hieromancy decks splash blue for more detain, as well as, more commonly, counterspells. I regrettably, cannot do this, as it is a commander deck.
