DarthTrevyn, this deck mills a full 60 cards by no later than turn 8 or 9.
user:CrimsonKing69... The Isochron Scepter is for Surgical Extraction /Extirpate . I will pay one extra mana, but I can use it every turn. card:Jace's Erasure combos with card:Jace's Archivist. Those are my biggest millers. Surgical Extraction is more like spot removal.
i like it, but you might want to consider Circu, Dimir Lobotomist
@ gheridarigaaz. Undead Alchemist is a good card, I might test play the deck with that in there, but for right now this deck is about milling the opponent as quickly as possible.
@ ksj358. I use to have Circu, Dimir Lobotomist in the deck, but he was too slow to make the oppoent discard and too slow to get out. My highest cmc is 5. Which is Nemesis of Reason and that mills ten cards a turn.
I don't think there's any way to make a proper mill deck in Modern, most decks in the format are just too quick, you will have trouble keeping your footing past turn 4-5 let alone turn 8.
1/4 topdecks have an Emrakul, the Aeons Torn somewhere, and even if you manage to Extirpate it the ability will still resolve and you need to start from the beginning, they might even have Kozilek, Butcher of Truth and/or Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre still waiting to trigger as well.
Leyline of the Void is about the best card for this kind of deck, but once it's on the field Extirpate and Surgical Extraction become next to useless, same with Isochron Scepter , card:Tormod's Crypt and extra copies of Leyline of the Void .
This is probably one of the better mill decks I've seen, and you have answers for many problems, but I can't see this doing well outside of a casual setting. It's kind of sad Wizards killed the mill archetype, but they're trying to make up for it by bringing it back in standard which is kind of cool.
card:Jace's Erasure and card:Jace's Archivist are an interesting combo.
I made a Legacy mill deck, Take the blue Mill, the story ends. . Would you check it out?
I might have to steal this deck's idea. Its mill-tastic. +1 for creative milling and keeping that old stone turning.
