Pauper Competitive GW (Selesnya) Midrange Pauper Theme/Gimmick

Vesdus

Sideboard

Phantom Nomad - Ruling #4 - 04/10/2004 - The damage prevention ability works even if it has no counters, as long as some effect keeps its toughness above zero.

Pseudo-Indestructible creatures in Pauper. OH YEAH, BABY!

THE CORE:

  • Phantom Nomad and Phantom Tiger are the main attraction here. I'm really glad Wizards of the Coast printed such unique cards at common. These guys with +1 toughness are half-Indestructible. They can still be killed by 'destroy' effects but they can block creatures without dying and can't be burned to death. That means that giving them protection makes them only vulnerable to mass non-damage removal, (something that is rare in Pauper) or edict effects. These guys carry enchantments really well and act as impassable walls on the ground. Very solid cards.

  • Veteran Armourer is the dude that keeps our phantoms alive. Hes's a bear and he doesn't care. As long as the phantoms have platemail to haunt they can support themselves on the mortal plane. Alone he boosts the other creatures to little effect but he helps trade with tokens and 2 Armourers make 1/1s into 1/3s.

  • Armadillo Cloak is the reason we want invincible ghosts. We want to make them curl into a ball and roll over our enemies! Meanwhile they heal us!

This deck is a work in progress and I would really appreciate any feedback or suggestions from anyone who sees this! Please don't be shy I could really use the help!
