Sideboard

Ol' Garthy Boy! Oh the things we're gonna do... I posted this deck late yesterday but I took it down because yet again I wanted to change the deck up a bit. So the main goal is to set up before you play Garth One-Eye by having Temur Ascendancy and Displacer Kitten on the field. Next you wanna tap Garth to cast a Black Lotus which will trigger Displacer Kitten to exile Garth and return him untapped, to then tap Garth to cast another Black Lotus, which activates the Kitten to exile Garth... you get the point. So what do you do with all your Black Lotus? Simple! Tap Garth to cast like 1000 Shivan Dragon and swing with a bunch of dragons, or you can use all that mana to cast a super nasty Braingeyser to make your opponents draw themselves to death. Alternatively to Displacer Kitten I also have one of my favorite cards Paradox Engine. Which does the same thing essentially.

Still not satisfied? I wasn't either, as I wanted Garth out now!!! That's why I have 1 Garth tucked into the sideboard for Glittering Wish which will be used to grab one of the various cards sitting in my sideboard. Magma Opus will be good for some easy treasure early on so I can either cast something earlier with it or save it for when I play Rain of Riches which will be great to combo with Maelstrom Nexus. Cascade is my secret weapon to get Garth out fast if I'm struggling to find him or a Glittering Wish. Averna, the Chaos Bloom seemed like an appropriate card for the deck.. being a 5 color deck I don't think I could go wrong with getting some extra land out early.

Speaking of my sideboard... let's talk about some of my choices here. So first of all, I already mentioned Garth and why I have one there, but the other creature awaiting the pull is Glint-Eye Nephilim. A nasty card for the deck and a great card to combo with Harness Infinity since I have 1 singular copy of Spellbook. If I just so happen to struggle to find either my Kitten or my Engine, I have an Eladamri's Call to find a Kitten super quick and that should help get my combo pieces faster. Iridian Maelstrom is my "control" card and I'm sure you'll understand, as I won't lose Garth or any of the Kavu tokens I make using Jared Carthalion. We then have Reconstruct History which will allow me to grab an assortment of cards from my graveyard as an alternative to playing Harness Infinity. The last 2 cards I'll talk about are circumstantial in my opinion and I'd like to say these are last resort cards for the deck, especially if you have a bunch of Black Lotus to crack! Those 2 cards are Unite the Coalition and Blot Out the Sky and the reason why I would play these only if I have a bunch of Black Lotus and as a last resort is because I would phase out Temur Ascendancy and then pump out as many Inkling tokens as I could. It's aggressive and unexpected.

The last 2 cards for the deck I wanna talk about are both artifacts and they can be of great help once on the field. First of Scion of Draco is the card that just makes all my multicolored creatures scary and hard to deal with. It might have a huge casting cost but I gladly except this drawback. The final card I'm gonna talk about is of course Helm of the Host which when equipped to Garth can make hasty tokens of Garth that guess what!? Aren't legendary! So that means that whole Garth+Displacer Kitten combo I talked about.. that gets so much more disgusting.

So uhh yea. Garth of MTG everyone.. enjoy.
