Gobble gobble gobble

Standard* Aggro Mono-Red Tribal

Lutris

Sideboard

Best buds Purphoros, God of the Forge and Goblin Rabblemaster together with lots and lots and lots of goblins.

This is an aggro deck. It wants always to be attacking, and if it can't attack, it suffers. Rabblemaster dies a little inside every time she is played post-combat. It can easily explode and overwhelm an opponent in early turns.

When it doesn't have as explosive of starts, it still has a fair amount of reach. Late game Purphoros turns Rabblemaster into a burn engine. Purphoros also lets you pump your team, which can be vital pushing late game damage through. Hall of Triumph and Obelisk of Urd also boost the team.

Magmatic Chasms, Goblin Heelcutter s, and Frenzied Goblin s also help push damage through by preventing creatures from blocking. Heelcutters with dash are especially robust against boardwipes and sorcery speed removal.

I haven't played this deck enough to see if devotion is achievable. An earlier (Izzet) incarnation of Purphoros + Rabblemaster never saw Purphoros 'alive' but I think its possible that late game Purphoros might be a thing in this new mono-red build. If so, a late game indestructable 6/5 beater is probably really good.

All in all, a lot of red aggro synergy coming out of this deck. And, its a lot of fun to play.

Went 3-0-1 at my LGS, and the draw was round 4 with the other 3-0 player. I went in worried that the deck might not get there, but then it got there double time.

A lot of the time I was siding out Purphoros for Searing Blood, just to have more burn. I wish I had 1 (or more) additional Roasts in the SB, but it was only really relevant my last match. I need to also have a couple Rending Volleys in the SB against big flyers.

On the whole, the deck is sweet and a lot of fun to play.

Best match was round 3, where I played another guy running Mono-Red Goblins. I took it in 2 easily, and we spent the rest of the round playing games, and ending up getting in 8 games in all, which I won 5-3 overall.

Bottom line, the deck overperformed on my own expectations going in, and I met my own personal goal of not coming in last place on game day, so a win all around.
