Sideboard

The Budget

The deck according to tcg player is under $2.50 if you buy all the main board cards (this used the lowest tcg direct price. I didnt calculate basic lands into the cost).

General Gameplan

The idea is to get down Salivating Gremlins then the following turn play 2 or 3 artifacts then swing in with the aether __ pay two energy get another artifact and hit em in da face for 10. The following turn we are set up to play Gearseeker Serpent for 3 ish mana.

The Curve

1 cmc

Renegade Map was super great at fixing our mana base. It acts as our 24th land but it has some great benefits.

  1. It thins our deck so the more we draw the less lands we should draw in the future.

  2. If we have all our colors that we need we dont have to play it turn one. We can save it and use it as a 1 mana pump spell for salivating gremlins.

  3. Use it to improvise in Metallic Rebuke or reduce the cost of Gearseeker Serpent.

Implement of Combustion is great for reasons 2 and 3 of renegade map. It is the better of the two implements in the deck. The one damage often becomes relevant. and late game this is an excellent draw because we have disposable mana and the draw effect allows us to sometimes link 3 spells together while top decking. That changes from good to amazing if we have Salivating Gremlins out.

2 cmc

Aether Swooper/Aether Poisoner/Aether Chaser. These are the ideal turn two plays. They allow us to play an artifact the turn after Salivating Gremlins comes down.

Prophetic Prism is the other necessary mana fixer. Drawing cards is a major theme in all of my decks and its no different in this one.

Implement of Malice works decently well but is probably the most replaceable card.

3 cmc

Salivating Gremlins is the main finisher. When in multiples this can just swing for lethal turn 5.

Metallic Rebuke is our only interaction and is super good. It is usually pay U counter anything.

7 cmc or maybe 2

Gearseeker Serpent is the secondary wincon. A 5/6 on turn 4 is pretty fantastic. The pay 6 unblockable has already come in handy in the few games Ive played.

Updates Add

My take away after playing a few matches is that the deck is very good for the cost.

Where the deck under performed

I didn’t like how little interaction I had with the opponent. I’m normally a control player so it felt weird to have the opponent have multiple creatures on the battlefield at a time with no way of removing them mainboard.

Where the deck over performed

  • I expected the land base to feel gross with running only 2 non basics, but between the Renegade Map and Prophetic Prism I almost never got mana screwed.

  • most decks with this low of a curve run out of steam really quick but this deck didn’t. There is obviously the turn where we draw a land and pass, but there are also turns where we have a Salivating Gremlins out and we chain together three artifact draw spells and swing for 8 with trample for the win.
