Who is the best voltron commander/ers you haven't thought of?

I want to have a very open mind on what makes a good voltron commander. Such as things people don't usually think about when they think voltron commander. For instance, every deck built around Brion Stoutarm is about flinging creatures. But why not look past that and make him voltron cause he has lifelink. Or using Trostani, Selesnya's Voice as your voltron commander and suiting her up with soulbond creatures so that you still gain life. Or creature equipment like Batterskull, to gain life.

I want you guys to think outside the box and try to come up with some really interesting ideas that you may or may not have thought about before

I've yet to see someone else make voltron around Tajic, Blade of the Legion, or cooler yet, Sliver Hivelord. Having all five colors to tutor up Worldslayer is cool, but five color voltron sounds delicious!

I keep reminding myself that I want to make a Lazav, Dimir Mastermind voltron deck. When you think of voltron in commander; you don't exactly think U/B

The problem is I can't afford it right now lol

Lord of Tresserhorn would make an amazing voltron commander, he's already a huge hitter and regenerate comes pre-installed. Double strike from red, unblockable with blue, add some flavor with, Unscythe, Killer of Kings and you have a token spawner to keep Lord coming back.

Tromokratis seems pretty strong cause you can just tap down one of the defending players creatures and he's essentially unblockable. Lord of Tresserhorn is crazy 10 power for 5 mana

Plus, for Tromokratis, he has built in evasion and protection which makes him especially good. Sure he's 7 mana, but my creature-less Tromokratis voltron deck just uses every single mass bounce spell you can and ways of making attacking impossible in order for me to get the mana to cast him.

When it gets going, I have like Scythe of the Wretched, Fireshrieker, Infiltration Lens and other things on him so when I attack it's either:

  • Let me draw 2x the number of all your creatures, Let them all die, and give them to me.

  • Die.

Tromokratis + Infiltration Lens hahahahaha... diabolical

I used to run Darksteel Plate, Sword of Feast and Famine, and Sword of Fire and Ice in my Animar, Soul of Elements build. It's like a mini-Progenitus that gets fawken huge guy

Tromokratis + Mind Games also works wonders.

Grand Arbiter Augustin IV would be interesting. No one expects a tax deck to turn voltron. You have access to all the equipment tutors, and a great suite of auras.

Thada Adel comes in for cheap and has a super nice ability.

Thada Adel, Acquisitor. The link you gave is to a deck, not the card.

Also, Daxos of Meletis could be fun. Built in evasion.

Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet would make a sweet voltron commander. And idk how I forgot she had lifelink so good.

My mono-black voltron deck runs two creatures that I swap out as commanders whenever I feel like it. The main commander is Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief and the side commander is Kiku, Night's Flower. Both are choices that don't really scream "voltron" when players see the deck hit the table.

canterlotguardian, if I were to do mono-black voltron, I'd probably use Sapling of Colfenor. Have you tested it as the commander? When it comes to voltron, since the commander is so necessary, why give your opponents even a single chance to destroy your commander.
