Hello !!:D :D so...yeah i love spellshapers and its been a while since im trying to find a suitable edh for them, this time i came up with Rigo, Streetwise Mentor since theyre all 1/1 creatures. So far i have Bess and Pendlehaven/ Pendelhaven Elder and thats pretty much it. What would u include as evasion, wincons, ways to damage, etc? lets ALL build THE spellshaper edh. If you have another commander choice for them ( that includes white) let me know also! :D

I had to look up what “spellshaper” means, so keep that in mind as you read LOL. Is there some manner of value you can create with Library of Leng and stacking specific cards in a specific order on the top of your deck? It would be utilizing that lesser-known aspect of the library, and I’m always a huge fan of that.

I would suggest an option that includes and , with as a possible third color.

isn't great. Mageta the Lion is a repeatable board wipe, and the other two I would consider are Avenger en-Dal and Devout Witness as targeted removal options.

has a couple of interesting control options. Waterfront Bouncer, Trickster Mage, and maybe Alexi, Zephyr Mage are passable tempo options, Stronghold Biologist and Stronghold Machinist are more color-heavy, and Dreamscape Artist hits color fixing and ramp, unusual for blue.

Spellshapers are generally mana-heavy, but Undertaker gives you a lot of freedom in what you discard, allowing you to switch cards in your hand and graveyard as needed. Notorious Assassin and Greel, Mind Raker are further control options.

offers mostly burn and evasion. Seismic Mage is repeatable land destruction, and Hammer Mage eats artifacts.

is, as always, the best at color fixing, with Greenseeker, Harvest Mage, and Silverglade Pathfinder. Rushwood Herbalist and Dawnstrider protect your creatures, and Jolrael, Empress of Beasts works well with the red options.

Ok, I see there are 34 spellshapers in Bant colours (The same is true for Jeskai, btw.)

They all have a discard cost and a tap cost. So you need ways to grant haste and discard payoffs in some way.

Regarding the haste: Thousand-Year Elixir is important here. The only other card with a comparable ability is Dynaheir, Invoker Adept, which would be another powerful commander option. As she gives you access to red, granting haste would be way easier. In Bant colours, there are Crashing Drawbridge and Ulvenwald Oddity  Flip.

For discard: Containment Construct is really powerful here. Conspiracy Theorist is cool, but would need Dynaheir. There are some madness spells in Bant colours. What's more, having permanents that grant you hand positive draw effects seems super important. Shorikai, Genesis Engine is great in that regard, and gives you 1/1s to trigger Rigo.

A final idea, but a pricey one: Training Grounds is a powerhouse for such a deck. Once more, Dynaheir would grant you cheaper access in Zirda, the Dawnwaker. If budget isn't an issue, you could even play both with her.

As a few more thoughts:

If you're set on using , a partner pair with Ravos, Soultender will keep your discarded cards ready to be used. Maybe Thrasios, Triton Hero for the other?

Copying the abilities with cards like Lithoform Engine, Illusionist's Bracers, or Battlemage's Bracers, depending on budget, can improve their efficiency. Since the Spellshapers signature ability involves tapping and discarding, a way to untap them repeatedly and a big pile of draw effects would also help efficiency.

dam u all went off, i love you thanks a lot ! <3 FormOverFunction actually no cuz discarding to play spellshapers abilities is a cost, not an effect so library doesnt work, but nice try. legendofa thats the analysis i wanted, thank you. seshiro_of_the_orochi never thought about Dynaheir !!!

Dynaheir, Invoker Adept

Gavin Verhey designed this card with the spellshapers in mind. He literally made this card for the deck you are trying to build.

griffstick Is that true? I had guessed it was for the Invokers like Dawnglare, Flamewave, Oran-Rief, and Myrkul's.

You're right. legendofa it is for the invokers. I've got them mixed up. However the spellshapers fit nicely as well

if you're already going to be stacking haste effects, you could lean into activated ability effects and use Garth One-Eye. He has an option to generate a mass draw spell to refuel, and he fits the flavor of 'creating' spells from nothing. I second the idea of Zirda, the Dawnwaker companion though!
