Ink-Treader Nephilim fun or chaotic

ignoring the argument of being legal or not, wanted to know other's experience with Ink-Treader Nephilim when it has been a general. Was considering building a deck to take to an convention but wasn't sure if he makes for fun games or overly complicated games.

Well for me as long as it doesn't break rules of the game itself, I like how a game can get funny with the many triggers a creature like that can do. I remember a while back I found out about the Nephilim and was like "Oh man I want to break this card" and experimented with Heroic triggers deck. It was pretty interesting to say the least, but that doesn't even take into account when an opponent will think to themselves "...what will happen if I cast this onto Ink-Treader?". I mean just imagine the funny combos in EDH people would see. Rite of Replication kicked becomes ridiculous. Murder is a three mana board wipe. Prey Upon is a hilarious mess of triggers for a token deck. I personally just really enjoy the card's concept and really did wish it were a commander, I'd say he truly is very interesting to play with and against.

You know what would be awesome? If wizards made four-color commander decks one year and errata'd them to have "~ can be your commander."

But to keep it on track, it's as complicated as people make it. Fleeting Distraction is probably my favorite of the interactions.

A buybacked Capsize wouldn't be too bad either though

I guess a deck just based around board wide heroic triggers for your side would be pretty nice with Ink-Treader. But to affect your opponent in funny ways you got stuff like Act of Treason or Disperse. I find it funny how he is named Ink-Treader when ink is commonly black...and he lacks black.

Dismiss into Dream is super gross with him.

Here are some things I've thought of to do with him. I'd make as many creatures as possible (tokens) and then turn Inky into a card drawing powerhouse.

Seed the Land is so awesome here because it fills the board with targetable snakes. The more creatures you and everyone else have = the more chaos you can pull off. Kamahl's Summons also rocks for this, especially after you draw a million cards. Which reminds me:

Crimson Wisps - Draw a million cards. Give your guys haste.

Give / Take - Draw a million cards (times 3!). Fuse spells count as one spell when you play them for its Fuse cost, so target Ink-Treader Nephilim with it. I wouldn't worry about putting 3 +1/+1 counters on everyone else's creatures when you are drawing this many cards.

Repeal - It's basically Upheaval except, oh that's right, draw a million cards.

Refresh - Protect your Nephilim and draw approximately A MILLION CARDS.

AEther Mutation - Return everything to their owner's hand and get a million saprolings.

What to do with all this card draw? The Words of... cycle is great (Words of Wilding, Words of Wind, Words of Worship, Words of War). Psychosis Crawler will kill everyone. Give something Diviner's Wand and it can steam roll Emrakul. Sky's the limit here.

Just make sure you have lab maniac in case your drawing shenanigans mill you out. Also Niveous Wisps 1 mana fog that draws a million cards. On a side note, you may want some indestructible creatures to survive ink-treader getting spot-removaled.

I remembered some cards and looked up others that could be funny in combos.

Sigil Blessing - Who needs just one creature getting the buff? Have five creatures out and they all get +8/+8 for two mana!

Polymorph - It's like you just made a new game of Magic start.

Predator's Rapport - Sure get a lot of life.

Revenge of the Hunted - All creatures have to block all creatures...what?

Snap - Your own little overloaded Cyclonic Rift that untaps your lands to continue using combos!

Spawning Breath - More mana along with a simple 1 damage to do nothing to Ink-Treader

Tempt with Reflections - Oh man will this get crazy with multiplayer

Too bad Into the Maw of Hell targets a land too or else that would just be way too funny. I'm curious how stuff like Selesnya Charm might work. I mean, if you get new copies, can you choose a new effect for them? Like for each copy, could you choose to instead put a token?

My friend made a deck around him a while back. It was funny exactly once, then hated out of every subsequent game.
