Sliver EDH, Advice on Non-Core Cards
Commander Deck Help forum

I put together a Sliver Overlord EDH deck for MTGO, and also created an 'optimal' version assuming money was no object. Commander Sliver, Reporting for Duty (optimal) and Commander Sliver, Reporting for Duty (budget).I'm open to suggestions across the board, though I'm fairly comfortable with my creatures in both, and my lands in the optimal version. What I'm really hoping for is help with the non-creature cards in both deck, and the lands in my budget deck. FYI- I already own all of the cards in the budget version, so even though a few of them are slightly expensive there's no out-of-pocket cost for me. Thanks!

Thanks for the advice EvenDryke! I'm fairly new to EDH, so wasn't aware there was so much hate for Slivers. I've been pretty unsuccessful with the deck so far... that may be part of it (combined with my lack of focus and terrible execution :P ).
I haven't had any issues with people beating me to the 'beat-down', and my creature lineup is pretty aggro focused, so I tend to prefer when the opponent swings away every turn (in my limited experience).
Targeted removal and board wipes have been a huge problem for me though. Aside from Mother of Runes, can you (or anyone else) suggest good ways to shelter my horde?
My current strategy involves tutoring out Sliver Hivelord as fast as possible, either with Homing Sliver or Sliver Overlord. I'm considering adding in other tutoring cards as well to accomplish this. I leverage Crypt Sliver, Crystalline Sliver, Hibernation Sliver, Pulmonic Sliver, Sedge Sliver, Ward Sliver in an attempt to keep my horde alive while also building it. I also run Opaline Sliver, which hopefully might dissuade targeted removal to some degree.

Wild Pair is a good card for a sliver deck, I think. Not budget, but Eldrazi Monument is good too!
Also, if your meta is full of global creature removal, you should consider changing you commander to Sliver Hivelord; that may downgrade your deck a lot, but sometimes it's better than having your slivers get killed everytime...

Sliver Overlord is always going to be better than Sliver Hivelord as the Commander. You can use Overlord to search for Hivelord, not vice versa. For targeted removal, Crystalline Sliver is good. Asceticism and Privileged Position are also good, but not as easily tutored.

Aura Shards can do some good work, especially if you get things going.

Harmonic Sliver does the same thing as Aura Shards, but be careful as shards says you may, where as with harmonic, you have to. this could mean blowing up something of yours
because board wipes are a thing in commander, Living Death is nice to have
Primal Surge is kind of a risky card, but can dump a lot of Slivers onto the field fast
Ghostflame Sliver and All Is Dust is a nice one sided board wipe leaving all of your slivers in tact.

In my experience once people realize you're playing slivers they will do everything in their power to kill you as quickly as possible. People just have a knee jerk reaction to slivers. That said I would recommend not playing them at all, but if you really want to then you're going to want plenty of ways to protect your creatures and keep yourself alive until you can get going.
Think pillow fort effects (Propaganda and friends), anything that keeps your creatures alive (i.e. Mother of Runes) and a touch of ramp to ensure that you get your creatures out fast.
Remember that your deck even more so than other creature-based deck wants to get a lot of creatures out and - more importantly - keep them out.
