Slaughter Games —Dec. 21, 2012
I decided Slaughter Games was a better catch all in the sideboard than Nevermore as the only real way to stop it is to counter it. I am also starting to wonder if the Blood Crypts are necessary or if I should just wait for Sacred Foundry and tinker with my land base using Dragonskull Summit for extra black if needed. Thoughts?

Nevermore is a good suggestion for the sideboard. And you are right, all of those spells would be particularly dangerous to this deck. I'm trying to keep as much variance to the tokens as possible to minimize the impact of Sever the Bloodline game 1. As for Mutilate , there's not much of an answer I can have for that besides siding in Nevermore game 2 if it gets to be a problem. Thanks!

Have you considered Hellrider ? He'd fit in nicely with your deck considering how many tokens you can produce. I wonder about the Goldnight Redeemer while life gain is nice, it's not going to win you the game you know? I'd swap her out for the Hellrider

It's true she won't win me the game, but she does stall in a horrendous fashion depending on how many tokens I have out. It may be an idea, however, to side it and MB Hellrider . Will do some playtesting and will get back with some findings.

I'm going to second the suggestion. There's much better things you can be doing for 6 mana. 1 more gets you up to Gisela, Blade of Goldnight who can stabilize way better than some health and just doubled the power of your board. She also doubles your Burn at the Stake .
Also, you're kind of generating a ton of tokens and then hopping, with no means to dig, for 7 cards in the whole deck. Sublime Archangel or Burn at the Stake I feel like you could be more proactive with your army. Intangible Virtue and/or Rally the Peasants would give you more means of winning.
Actually, wow. Think about Intangible Virtue for a moment. Swing with your army and then Burn at the Stake . That would be devastating in the right board state.

Alright, I added Intangible Virtue (again lol) because it won't do anything but help. I'm not sure what to remove for Hellrider but my initial thought is Midnight Haunting as it may be overkill to have it and Lingering Souls outside of a Favorable Winds deck. Thoughts?

So what do you do against Terminus and Detention Sphere ?

Nevermore generally helps in those matchups and I run a high variance in tokens to counteract the kind of damage Detention Sohere and sever the bloodline do to my board state.

To be honest... i would replace the Sublime Archangel with the Hellrider . Don't get me wrong....she is freaking amazing....but for her power to shine you have to swing with one creature...which can be stopped by anything showing how you have no trample. I get the flying but all they have to do is have a 1/1 flyer or reacher and your stumped for that turn. Hellrider can kill before they even block, and they are the same mana, just red instead of white.

Like the other guys said, I think you should add 4x Hellrider . Take out the Sublime Archangel for it.

if you are running 8 black mana sources just for the vault and Lingering Souls you should add Sorin, Lord of Innistrad he looks really nice in this deck and all of his abillities are relevant

Thanks for the suggestion! I have made changes and I am really starting to love the build of the deck. The curve looks great, the average CMC looks good, and the gameplay feels focused and capable. I will be doing some testing when I have time and I will have updates soon. Thanks everyone!

Thanks! Burn at the Stake is potentially one of my favorite cards right now. I've got probably 3 or 4 different deck configurations I'm working with to make it work well.
