Contain your excitment because this is only the beginning! This is an oddball deck in standard right now because it's a mono colored deck that isn't red or green! It doesn't even SPLASH any other colors! Now that is dedication to a cause!
Anyway, onto the deck itself. This deck focuses on... can you guess? That's right! Soldiers! The super handy Obelisk of Urd that came out in M15 is the PERFECT tribal anthem effect! Plus it has convoke which means it can some down as early as Turn 3!
A turn 3 Obelisk of Urd can be done by...
T1: Plains, Soldier of the Pantheon
T2: Plains, Raise the Alarm
T3: Plains (You really only need three for this), tap your creatures for the convoke cost of: Obelisk of Urd!
Then you beat their face in with Super Soldiers! Super Soldiers include, but are not limited to:
Brimaz, King of Oreskos
Fabled Hero
Preeminent Captain
Cheering from the crowd
Now if you look a bit closer to the list, you'll notice I only run 1 Spear of Heliod and 1
Hall of Triumph
. Why is that, you might ask. Well, I find that having 2 of either is redundant seeing that they are both LEGENDARY. So, now I can have both out, and get one more anthem effect than if I ran 2 of one!
Am I forgetting someone? Oh yeah! Our favorite planeswalking cat: Ajani Steadfast! His ultimate is useful only if you can actually use it. Most of the time you simply use his +1 to give a
Fabled Hero
super powers and gain some life. His -2, however is good to give a board-wide boost to your possibly weak, 1/1 Soldier tokens. Just not the first choice for me.
